Filip The Train Guy. I had to give up driving and I sold my classic 1986 BMW 635 CSi and I bought tons more of quality German ho model railway items. I’m half German but living in England and I have a massive passion for German railways.

The class 50 was no heavy freight engine. She was designed to run on light tracks for branch lines with maximum 16 tons/ weight per meter Heavy freight engines were classes 44, 45, 58, and 59 wich could weigh up to 22,5 tons/ meter. Toys compared to Big Boys or L 131s

If you happen to be in the Netherlands (21st through 23rd February), come and see Ernst's gauge 1 model railway, which will be presented during Rail 2014 Houten (near Utrecht). Not only smoking BR 50 engines, but also the amazing KM1 Köf and other engines (e.g., KM1 Glaskasten) will be shown. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Les I would love to come but I just got back from the toy fair in Germany. Maybe next year you can schedule the the 1-Gauge show during the same time as the Ontrax show in Utrecht.

Damn, this is impressive. Checked web site and couldn't find the manufacturer of this kit. Not interested in a working railroad layout, but using a modern, U.S. locomotive/boxcars in a diorama.

Not a kit. The manufacturer is KM-1, these engines are from very limited production runs, and are about 5000 euros.

How do they make the smoke and how long does it last? On my HO Engines the smoke will last maybe 10 -15 laps before you need to add more smoke oil.

HO is just too small to produce real smoke production, sorry. The best model in HO that smoke is the Roco BR10. The BR10 blows smoke from the stack and cylinders click here to view video Roco BR10 62193 68193

how do you do that with the smoke? That it blows the smoke when the cylinder "work". I hope u know what I mean :D

It is the dynamic smoke and sound system that comes with every KM1 locomotive.

I love it! German locos look fantastic but would really love it if you could produce a locomotive of choice on order incorporating the new technology - to see South African Steam in this scale using this technology would be absolutely amazing! I would be willing to pay for that! I have works drawings too! I wish all 1/32 locos would feature this technology - really is awesome!

I agree it is fantastic technology, almost as good as live steam. I would love to own a South African Garratt in 1/32 scale with the dynamic smoke and sound, actually maybe it would not be such a good idea because I would never leave the house!!!

ReynauldsEuroImports Yes, a nice South African GMAM Garratt in 1/32 and I think you are right - who would want to leave the house! I do have wheel castings for a Gauge 1 (45mm) GMAM.

I believe LGB produced a handmade Garratt in the late 80's but i don't thing it was 1/32 scale it was 1/22.5 I have a meeting with KM1 in Germany in three weeks, I will tell them they should make a Garratt. Are there collectors of 1/32 is South Africa?

ReynauldsEuroImports Yes think they did. If they make a SAR Garratt then it should be the GMAM. If they want to reduce the outlay to perhaps make it a bit more affordable but still make a really fantastic South African steam locomotive then it has to be the Class 15F. I like the GMAM but the Class 15F is one of the most well-know and famous locomotives and also one of the nicest proportioned locomotives. I would be willing to give them a full set of works drawings and try to provide any guidance they might need to develop it. I also have a lot of South African Steam Groups on Face book. There are quite a few collectors of SAR in any scale. If KM1 want to try a pilot model I would also be more than willing to help market it.

ESU has their own smoke generator and fluid. The generator can be bought as a spare part.

da sitzt ein hamster drin der ein rad antreibt. am ende des gleis ist ein möhre. wenn der hamster diese sieht rennt er los und die lok setzt sich in bewegung
