KMFDM interview & Vogue video on MTV 120 Minutes with Dave Kendall (1992.04.12)
I had actually posted this clip awhile back, however, I have removed the old posting since I have now acquired a better quality version which also has the whole interview…and, here it is…enjoy!!!
Thanks to the legendary duo of Art & Steve who recorded and preserved the original 120 episode from whence this clip has been derived!
If you are an avid 120 Minutes fan and a trader/collector of actual episodes of the show, do please drop me a line. Although I have a fair number of shows, I am always looking for more in order to archive as many as possible, if you are willing to share, trade, or sell, please contact me.
If you recorded the show on VHS and still have your original video tapes but don’t have the capability of transferring to dvd and/or digital, I’d be more than happy to transfer them for you and send your original VHS back to you along with dvd and/or digital files.

Omg forgot about this interview. Sascha was a really cool guy and he taught me a lot. About music. We used to have deep discussions about Buddhism and religion. Helped on Material Girl. Shared some of those stories in my Growing Up N Rock N Roll playlist. Super nice cool guys. Except someone ruined my KMFDM incense! 😤 Still ticked about it cuz kids only got that after helping at shows if they agreed to a path of peace and to abstain from things… so it was special to me. Anyhow lots of fond memories.

Cool video for Vogue, but the remix is so-so. I’ve never heard that mix before…No guitar 🎸 solo in it ? And Sasha voiceovers that sound like they were just slapped on it last minute.

I could be wrong, but that whole album got banned for improper sampling, however, I think it's out of court and released in its original version. But the version here is likely the remixed version that was used on the album because the other one was out of print.

@@teddratch_owner_signature_4920 actually you are thinking of the album before this one 'Naive' they sampled 'O fortuna' I agree though that KMFDM songs are hard to remix and make sound good.

@@showdown2006 you are correct. I get Vogue confused with Naïve for some reason.

It's missing the little solo in the bridge but has that delicious, jarring riff when they sing "Govern Your Soul" that the album version doesn't have. My ideal version would be the album version with that extra riff in the chorus.

Originally industrial music was just metal clings and clangs instead of the usual house techno or trance. Eventually, the cling clang rhythm part of industrial music, evaporated and adding rock to electronic seemed to replace what people refer to as industrial. The term "industrial" was coined because the beats sounded like the clinging and clanging of metal on metal. Similar to what one would probably hear in an industrial factory. Big-beat is a genre. Although I'm not familiar with many artists in the scene, it is a category that does exist. This to me has elements of metal and trance with a vox distortion for the lyrics and female singing for the vocals. Alternative is just a word that mainstream companies like MTV use to describe anything that doesn't fit into their normal pop categories. This however, is not alternative, it's dance floor metal, disco metal, electro metal, groove metal, or big beat. Industrial truly died in the 80's but since then it's been substituted for techno and rock guitars together. Full well there are arguments today over what the difference is between industrial, goth, metal & this.
