I worked at C ult W atch for about a decade. We had two definitions of a cult. The first is the modern and secular one, which is about mind control. The second is the traditional and Christian one about false doctrine. The markers for MAGA are strong for the first one, and there are some present for the second as well.

Top ten warning signs that a group may be a cult. #1. The leader. A single charismatic and strong leader, who nevertheless is feared by many close to them. To disagree with leadership is the same as disagreeing with “God”. (Or, in secular terms, a sign of rebellion and betrayal.) Any doubt in the infallibility of the leader is not tolerated and will be met with derision and cries of “traitor!” or that the person isn’t a “true believer”. They may be spoken of as a “believer in name only”, referring to the group in question. Once someone is branded as a traitor, rehabilitation is possible, but often requires a public confession of their “sin” and public pleas for forgiveness. If the leader says a person is completely apostate, there is no redemption possible and threats and derision are commonplace. Someone who remains friendly with that person will also become suspect.

I’m a Trump supporter but I wasn’t until after he got elected and I started to see the nonsense you guys threw at him. That’s when I became a cultist. @@ghos7fiction No. There was a purpose. Trump denied and still denies having had an encounter with Stormy. It was part of the defense opening statement. The prosecutor therefore have the right to establish Trump’s credibility. That’s why Stormy was questioned. If Trump had admitted it, yes there would be no purpose but the job of the prosecutors is to present facts to the jury and challenge false statements from the defendant. Also Stormy has the right to not be accused of lying without having the possibility to explain herself.

One of the things that makes me believe MC was originally a good guy (and has come full circle) is his family. They come over as good people and they stuck by Michael, waiting for him to come back to his senses. Something that helped wake him up was donnie leering at his 16-year-old (at the time) daughter. We watched him de-programme in public and saw how painful and difficult it can be. Who wouldn't want revenge? But he is speaking truth.
