I absolutely love this tool! It must be used on an ANGLE! I can 100% assure you it doesn’t just stretch from the head to tail if on an angle. Saving my knees and loving this! Don’t knock it if you have never tried one and seen the results.

I dont see how this gets any were near the stech of a power strech. It looks like it only sets the carpet on the tackstrip with minimal strech. And if the manufactur requires a power strecher for warranty this would void it. Not to mention power streacher are usefull in more situations.

get a real stretcher and learn how to work it ! you always start in closets and doorways, set all that up with a kicker or shorty stretcher, and work away from those area's . i never seen somebody work so hard . a real wall to wall stretcher would pull 1/2 to 3/4 inch out of that room in the main stretch and 1/4 on the side stretch and if it was above 80 degrees even more . that room would play a tune it would be so tight and never a problem with wrinkles ! killin them wrists by using your fingers to hold the carpet to the strip . is it double stripped ??? that's usually how that works !! get a carpet spreader that locks it at the baseboard and actually creases the edge , run a stair tool down the wall, cut the corner in and off with the wall trimmer to the next wall . repeat at each wall corner till you can't use the trimmer, then you got cut the rest in by hand . do this in my sleep! i would run circles around this install . can any body out there hand sew ? or make a pattern? or install a bird cage step? did my apprenticeship and installed in Bay Area working for Macy's ,Brueners all the high dollar companies in the day, taught by Union installers, BEST of the BEST !

@@peterruiter630 how does this tool "save your back"? Furthermore, if everyone used a power stretcher, the proper way of stretching carpet, then nobody would be complaining about their knee problems. I've been installing carpet for over 10 years with a power stretcher and haven't had any issues with my knees yet. I only use a kicker in really small closets that don't require a lot of force, and on stairs, where you don't actually use your "knee" to kick, but the top part of your thighs. If installers were properly trained how to use their bodies and their tools in installation, we wouldn't have the need for such contraptions like this tool. By the way, makes me wonder why I don't see this tool in any flooring tools supply store. Do they not support it?

you can see from the video that the tool is stretching the carpet the other way to get its leverage. it basically is only stretching the carpet between the teeth. you can see it bunching up behind the tool each time you push down. with the teeth going in opposite directions, it can only stretch the carpet between each end of the tool. simple physics.
@kneelesspete
@kneelesspete 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Travis Yes, you are correct. It is simple physics. When stretching with the Kneeless on angle to the wall you are using the tackstrip in front of you as leverage to move the carpet up the wall and along the wall, all in one motion. So if you keep doing that and go all the way around the round, you will have a nice tight rug.

Hes right, the same amount youre pushing towards the strip, is the same amount your knee is holding back, so once u release, yes the front side is pinned but the wrinkle under your knee releases half if not all the stretch u just attempted to get

To someone who installs and never used one of these, I know it looks like it doesn't stretch, but it does. It's at an angle stretching the carpet to the side, not directly in front of the knee. That little bubble under the knee pops right out as soon as he stands up. I don't care for the tool personally. I use a power stretcher head with the tail spike for the wood floors and crab stretcher for concrete. I am sick of people always critiquing in this business. I know plenty of top notch installers who all do it differently. Instead of criticizing them, I stole their knowledge.

Carpet Manufacturers would not approve and simply would void the warranty and the installer will be held responsible for ANY issues. This tool is not CFI or Manufacturer approved. Good for closets, width on hallways, pattern matching seams, setting areas to stretch off of with a real power stretcher, but not as the sole carpet stretcher.

Dinosaur carpet layers are missing out. I still use a power stretcher everyday but this has its uses on particular types of carpet. Also its great to use on the widths of the hallway to stretch them rather than retardedly bashing the knee kicker to stretch the width of hallways etc. I use this tool to lay all my cupboards as well makes them much tighter. I've restretched plenty of carpet with this tool as well and its pulled some nasty bubbles out. This tool is great as well because you can generally disregard furniture in the room and still stretch the carpet without having to move stuff to get the poles into position to power stretch. Never had to go do a restretch in 5 years and that's the time of been laying for. Million ways to skin a cat mate.

Hi Shinhee If you have bubbles in the carpet after it is stretched, then you are not using the Kneeless properly. You should not have bubbles. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen!! He's literally stretching the carpet off of the carpet..I don't see how this is an effective way to stretch carpet

You do not understand the stretching technique.When using the kneeless, you are moving the carpet to the wall and along the wall in one motion, using the tackstrip in front of you as a leverage point. This is why you must use the Kneeless at an angle to the wall. So many people think that you stretch, square to the wall, and once you release it, you have a stretch. It will not work that way.Always use the Kneeless on an angle to the wall!!!!! On the first two walls you will not feel or need much tension. The last 2 walls is where you will feel the tension increase. It is a different technique for stretching, that is why some installers don't believe it works. Even, I had my reservations at first. I hope this helps you understand.

@@peterruiter630 you’re using the carpet itself as a base to stretch instead of the opposing wall clearly you do not understand the aspect of how carpet needs to be stretched and by the way I have been installing carpet since 1982 so I speak from experience I would love to go back to one of your jobs after a couple years to see all the loose carpet and wrinkles in your installations..

@@corbyndallas366 I have been installing since 1985 and have no call backs for restretches. The system works. The only difference between the 2 stretching techniques is that you are pulling from the tack strip behind you and with the Kneeless you working off of the tackstrip in front of you. The final out come is the same. I gather that you have never used a Kneeless Carpet stretcher .

Wtf you need to stretch away from the closet I’m a knee less installer who owns a crab stretcher and a true power stretcher. I use the knee less literally everyday. I make others look silly using it and you look silly

I like to stretch away from the seam in the door. That is why I do it that way. It works for me. We as installers will all come up with different stretching techniques when using the Kneeless. I would be interested in seeing some video of you installing with the kneeless. Maybe we can get other installers to do the same and learn from each other. Let me know what you think. Peter

I might have been a little crass with my comment im sorry about that. What I ment was I do the whole wall opposite the closet and seamed doorway. UNLESS the room is layed out length wise vs long In which case I stretch like you just direct across from door seam
