This is the best way I'm aware of to extend the life of your flat platen. It is a solution that would work for any belt grinder that I'm aware of. Website: SchwarzKnives.com

Superglue (cyanoacrylate) would probably be the best bonding method for making it replaceable. Because it releases easy with enough heat, and the residues cleans up easy with acetone after that.

So awesome to see you have a KZfaq channel!! Super excited to learn from you and watch your work. I loved this approach to the glass platen attachment. As soon as you started to describe it I was like "yes. That's awesome!" Can't wait for the grinding video man

Get some machinist jacks. They are super cheap and will allow you to clamp overhangs easily. You likely already know that. But some others watching may not. And comments help the algorithm….

I did the same to mine, but it's not as refined with the shelves milled into the platen. I'm loving it so far, but as you know, I'm still at the rookie stages of this blade stuff. I did have Lisa send me another whole platen setup that I'll be using with leather and felt so I can leave the glass on one permanently. I've coveted your dad's saddle shop for years--now, in addition, I'm wanting your garage. If my wife winds up killing me, y'all will know why. ;) $$

Contact cement. It’s how I do sharpening stones to aluminum. A torch will defeat it later
