Damn you Jeff, I was about to go to bed and now I have to watch a 20 minutes knife review!

I can tell you Seal Strike really did a good job responding to what features are useful. I had Seal Pup Elite for 17 years now and, it still is my primary knife for just about anything and you may think military would not use a knife often, we do a lot. We spend the majority of our time setting up camps, and putting things together/down which involves cutting ropes, canvases and etc. The biggest pain for Seal Pup Elite was the lack of glass breaker. Usually when you are throwing something through a window, you use the knife the cut the bug net, break the window, then throw it in. With the former we had to cut the net, then use the rifle to break the window, which is not as convenient or fast as using the knife to do all, which is where we liked Seal Team Elite, but that knife was way too big and heavy to be worth while. Thanks for the video, I'll probably buy Seal Strike but I'm quite upset with how SOG lost its quality so much, I hope you can comment on its quality after long term use.

I have had this knife for a while and I'm pretty impressed. It holds the edge pretty well for a SOG. I have yet to use the sharpener. No knife deserves that torture unless completely necessary.

This knife is just another example of what I've felt for a long time. I just don't know about SOG nowadays. Decades ago I started off being a SOG fanboy. But over the years I've witnessed Cold Steel take SOG's game and just plain play it better on all fronts and do that cheaper then them. I would really like to see a few knife companies like SOG and Gerber under new management and clean up their acts. I really do miss those awesome knife companies of my youth

Nice review Jeff. I'm kinda liking this thing because it's a cool knife, and (I believe a knife that was designed to assume), you have a primary fire-starter and sharpener...nice clip etc...

I aways take the *insert military/police group* approved branding thing with a handful of salt. In the both jobs you use a blade occasionally for opening boxes and food and stuff, real general use. In the police its a little more important to have an edge as occasionally you go to suicide/attempt suicide hanging jobs, but that's generally the job for the leatherman serrated edge. Fixed blades for LEOs would generally be the rapid deployment last ditch things like a small karambit mounted to the core area. I don't have military time under my belt, but guys I know do carry fixed blades, and use thrm for opening boxes and crates and MREs. The knife companies always make out that the blades see far greater glory than that though, its all a bit silly.

I'm assuming you have to have a cc licenses to carry iwb, at least that's just my understanding of blades over 3-4 inches. then again I live in Florida, so any fix blades I carry are open carry and out there.

Jeff, a second thought, (for a vid from you). Almost begs the question....why haven't we seen more vids in context of what you mention here on serrations... e.g. do some demo vids on why you prefer straight edge vs. serrated, and....what serrations (also demonstrated) are better than others ?....Good suggestion ??

SOG should've made the height of the ferro rod adjustable and left out the sliding piece that exposes the blade. I noticed the sheath gets chewed up from striking it.

Loved the video I do wish quality was better though.

Hey Jeff, i was wondering if you could do a review of the Benchmade SOCP Combo Edge. It's a great knife at a decent price, and I feel that it's a tad under rated.

5:37 doesn't need to protrude much, how far can the plastic scrape down before the rod falls out is the question. the knife will knock down the sides of the plastic well enough to probably ignore it in the use of the rod.

Thanks for the honest review. Yeah, metal overlay is useless. Serrations suck, the top guard is in the way. A few flaws with this knife. But it's good it's only 4 mm thick. The Seal Pub is too thick at 5 mm.

I'll stick with my plain edge seal pup elite and even then it's a back up to a back up.

Most of sentry rear attack slashes to the femurs and throat veins... Will be landing the users fleshy inside part of their forefinger between the 1st and 2nd knuckle in that recessed sector just front of that rubber hilt, and not their thumb. The rubber part of the hilt is there to maintain a non slip grip as the user pulls the knife across those said veins. The Navy SEALS use it edge up with the index finger over the guard for cutting throats so the gimping and top guard has a purpose if you know what its for👍

The flare is to keep your hand from sliding down on to the blade when stabbing into an enemy body. I don't think it's designed for wood carving detailing.

Glad to see more knife reviews coming from you lately. Is it me or does SOG seem increasingly "gerbery" lately? Paint this thing orange and you could make Bear Grylls a fortune with it. At least their build and material quality seems to have remained the same.

this seems like a really cool knife and id honestly like to have one but without the special sheath this knife seems extremely subpar for the 60-70$ price tag. I really don't see anything unique, special or particularly attractive about the knife itself, it seems like a lot of the selling points on this knife has to do with the special sheath itself so the idea of having to spend an extra 20-30$ to get the sheath seems a lot like having to spend extra money on video game to buy downloadable content that feels like it should have been part of the original game.. 90$ just seems like too much money for a knife like this with this kind of steel where a major part of the setup is a cool sheath that isn't even part of the basic purchase. I got an Ontario USA RAT-3 for 90$ at a local shop no less so I have a hard time justifying buying this knife for that price when I can get something that, simply put, is just such a better deal such as the RAT-3 in high carbon with micarta scales and a perfectly usable sheath. If this Seal Strike knife was around 50$ including the gimmicky yet still cool sheath then id be interested in it in a heartbeat. But a knife this size that's not only being sold as a gimmicky setup with something like AUS-8 steel and the main gimmicky part, the only part that's really interesting about it, the sheath, costing an extra 20$ I really cant see myself buying this setup for 90$ and I really cant see any reason to buy this knife without the special sheath seeing as how that's really the only unique aspect of it.That being said I personally love SOG knives in general, I own the SOG Snarl, the SOG Spec Elite in VG-10 (my favorite knife steel) as well as some other various SOG knives like their 3 blade throwing set. I respect, appreciate and encourage unique ideas coming through from the knife makers and part of me likes supporting the continuation of unique and bold ideas but the price has to be right. I don't have a lot of money to waste on needless knife purchases so I need them to be worthwhile.
