I love how you're able to wrap the sheath without having to bore any holes into the material. Great job, Dave!!!! Thank you!

Wow! So simple yet works so well, without boring holes, stitching. It would work with thin sheet aluminum, like from a tall can, with leather, synthetic leather, even thick cloth like canvas. So practical, yet only requires a knife. Your videos are so practical!

Great project! I have been planning on making a traditional sheath like this out of birch bark, which is abundant up here in Michigan for a Mora Classic 1/0 knife that I have. You got me inspired to get it out of my head and into practice, Dave. Thanks for the timely video!

You have to adapt. I use American Elm bark here in East Texas. Don’t think about specific species. rather think properties!

Gotta try that someday while in camp. Seems important to pre-wet the bark. The drying out will tighten up the rig. Nice. Thanks.

Beautiful project. Looks like the inspiration for the original Mora 2000 sheath🙂 I remember making one from Tulip Poplar bark but the White Pine looks much more flexible and pliable.

Looks way better than the one I made (in the same "birch bark" style) out of doubled-over Duck Tape. Mine works, but yours is way cooler. I might try Flax next time. Its readily available around my area.

Slash pines in my area wouldn’t work for this project . This one got me thinking in depth . I’d have to substitute wax myrtle or brazilian pepper to get sheets of bark like that .

This is crazy because I was literally thinking about making a knife sheath from Birch bark, tying it fancy and making it look real nice and I was going to try and see if it would actually be feasible since they use them for stone tools and such I figured it would be fine.
