Own both. The SRM is fantastic for the price point. I like the tagged out also. The other kinda big point that wasn’t mentioned, especially regarding pricing, is that the BM is made in the USA where the SRM is made in China. BM did used to have a budget line years ago with their red class offering models in more budget materials and blade steels that were made overseas to keep the prices down but has been defunct for quite a while. Now If all one is looking for is a solid well made EDC for an amazing value regardless of origins, the 9201 is hard to beat. The tagged out is well a Benchmade and basically a longer version of the bugout. As far as comparing the 2 designs they are indeed similar aesthetically and share the same lock type. I hardly carry either and prefer Spydercos myself.

Eye opening review. I agree with you. I jumped in to rest waters on srm and I love the knife. I did have to tune it but wasn't too hard. Hope srm gets more models. There cataloguue is kinda small. The 1911 and 9201 are worth it for an amazing price

Nice review, but let's be honest, 99.999% of the people don't use pocket knives for field craft. Appropriate tool for the job, an axe or hatchet to split wood, batoning wood with a knife is impractical and only if you find yourself unprepared. Again 99.999 % of people will never be involved in that type of situation. I have flint rods, but almost nobody actually carries them, I always have a Bic lighter or two in my pocket. If given the choice to start a fire between a lighter or flint...no contest. All the survival videos, nice things to know, it's fun but... anyway user preference, if you don't mind spending the money on a Benchmade, get you one or not.
