I love your peaceful backdrop! Looks lovely and you can't even tell how hot it is lol! I live in Houston, so we're struggling here with this heat! I love all the new yarns, but Christmas Romance has my heart! Stunning.

I hate lifelines, too. Live dangerously! I don’t know why knitters don’t embrace Christmas in July like stitchers do, but glad you’re using your powers for good and spreading the word. Your yarns and knits are lovely.

Your new Christmas mini set would be perfect for the Land of Sweets, of course. But, even better, as a set of tree ornaments using Chelsea and Sue’s mini stocking pattern.

This is my first time watching you. I am very familiar with Christmas in July as I used to start my sewing projects each year for Christmas gifts. Even though I primarily knit, I still think of July as the time to get going for Christmas. Also, I want to tell you that I really like your colors. I love that Emerald it looks so pure.

I'm always impressed with your lace knitting skills. I'm terrible at knitting lace and rip back more than I knit! I think a good name for the gray, red, and white colorway would be Sooty Santa.

So glad you're feeling fine and able to enjoy your summer. I just frogged a 12" diameter crocheted basket a few days ago. Didn't like the sides which weren't straight due to different yarn thicknesses. So I redid it and kept my yarn scraps more consistently thick and I like it so much better. Wow did I bust out some scraps. Some of that stuff was given to me years ago by my sis who used to volunteer at a thrift store and snagged up lots of donated yarn. Your lace shawl is Lovely!

Great to see you! Beautiful yarn as always. My worse knitting nightmare was when I was being overconfident and didn’t use a lifeline for some lace. I frogged so many times until I realized that I could use a lifeline, game changer☺️🧶

It’s lovely to see you again. Christmas Forest as a name perhaps. 😊 your Shaw is such a beautiful lace pattern. It’s 98’ down below, but we live at 4000 ft so it’s so much cooler here in our fir forest.

Glad you are enjoying your summer. Too dry here and hot and wildfire danger. I could never get one section of the Rhinebeck shawl correct with the zigzags. My brain just would not work and I kept tearing it out. The repeats were short so I did not place stitch markers in, but should have. I began to think that my older age was defeating me on this. Someday i might try it all again. Beautiful shawl regardless. Cheers!

Hi Sharron- good to see you. I am in love with the Christmas in July colorway - feels modern and fresh but traditional at the same time. Using some of your advent minis in a baby blanket for my newest grand baby coming in the winter. Guess my most frustrating knitting when I drop a stitch in a field of st st and don’t see it for a few inches- ugh!

Greetings Sharon, I don't have a specific project in mind that has frustrated me, but my frustrations have been trying to prevent rowing out in my knitting. I have watched several good KZfaq videos with helpful info & techniques, but I still manage to have some rowing out; ugh! Oh well, it's what it is; I'm not giving up Lol I hope to see you at Rhinebeck this year. Hugs, idaknits

Once I was working on a Habitation throw. I knit a lot in the evening after dinner. When I got to the decreases I ended up off in the weeds from mixing the increases with the decreases. So it’s a rectangle with a wonky corner. I’m leaving it for posterity. Wine may have been involved. Lesson learned (I hope) 😊

Thank you Sharon for being a traditional dyer! As someone who’s birthday is Christmas Day I have ALWAYS been drawn to traditional Christmas colors…they make me happy! Your yarn is lovely (as always) and I really like the idea of Christmas in July for us knitters! I do have projects in time out (for various reasons) but there are also projects in thrown out (like across the room because they just drove me over the edge!!!) Have you tried barber cords in lieu of life lines? I didn’t use lifelines as often as I should’ve in the past but the barber cords are considerably speedier. Some of my “mistakes” come all to often from not reading the pattern carefully…..then after you’ve knit 6 or more inches all of a sudden 😉that mistake just shows up out of nowhere 🤯….and often times…time out occurs 😂. Knit what brings you joy the way it brings you joy! Stay cool 😎 Merry Happy July Christmas 🎄

My birthday is close to Christmas but how wild to be born on the day! I tried a Barber cord once but it was too sticky for me (stitches didn't move well.) Glad you like the yarn, thanks!

My most frustrating knitting mistake...hmmm... Soon after returning to knitting (after a hiatus of many years), I developed a bad case of tendonitis in my wrist (not related to knitting). It's been about 4 months and I can hardly knit at all. I will recover and return to it, but it's for sure VERY frustrating.

My most frustrating knitting mistake is one I keep making: All of my sweaters are too big, even though I measure and swatch! How does this happen?!? I'm a loose knitter, but I thought the measuring and swatching would take that into account. I either have to change needle size or the size I'm knitting, and sometimes both. Lots of frogging at my house.
@KnitStyle
@KnitStyle 28 күн бұрын
Measure your finished (too big) sweaters and calculate the gauge. Use a large portion of the sweater to measure. This will give you a starting point, and you will know whether to change needle size. Remember that needle size on a pattern (especially for sweaters) is only a suggestion. The designers have very different gauges than many of us and they all vary. When swatching start with the suggested, then try a smaller (or larger) needle. I usually swatch with 3 different sizes. Wash you swatches, and knit as big a swatch as you can stand. Hope this helps!
