I'm going to try this today. Thank you! I've watched a few of these videos, but your explanation seems much more clear to me.

Excellent video - many of the other videos are just confusing about this technique.

I'm so glad I found this video. I only heard of Latvian Braid about half an hour ago, but the knitter in the video I was watching was doing a funny (??? Continental??) purl, there wasn't any sound either, and I wasn't sure if it was some sort of fancy stitch, or just a purl. THANKYOU!

I had high hopes for that other video because of the thick yarn being easier to see in the video, but she moved a little too fast and gave no verbal explanation of what she was doing.

It was Norwegian purling, and that video was useless.

To work it flat just work the first row as shown with the yarn going under and work the second row by knitting on the purlside with the yarn also going under. (Or both rows over for the other direction)

Huh, pretty simple. Made something similar by accident when ribbing with three colours

Thank you so much! I'm knitting a colorful fair isle sweater and I wanted to add some latvian braids. Is it possible to do this in more than 2 colors?
@KnittyMelissa6 жыл бұрын
Бояна Марковачева - Traditionally the braid only uses 2. If you tried with more, the unused colors would all be carried across the front of the braid until each is used again. I don't think this would give the visual effect you want.

You could make the second round in different colours. You could then additionally work another two rounds , working the first in the same as the previous

I watch them closely but they never tel how to stepup from thirst row in a neat way

Marie Brits - Do you mean to get the alternating colors? All I did was join the white yarn and knit 1 red, knit 1 white around. Nothing special!

You talk to much, just get to the point. whats the point of showing people how to do things if you just going to talk ugh
