I always tell my followers just to try and to knit, the needles find their way in your hands, everybody is knitting differently. And you can not only use them for socks ;) you can also use them for Arms for top down knitting, cuffs, gauntlets and even baby and children hats. You can also use it as a needle for braids (is that the right word?) and I also use it to park my stitches when I knit thumbs.

I finally received my first set of FlexiFlips and really appreciate your review and comments. Currently, I am trying a pair of baby socks. As you were demonstrating, I noticed that your work moves so much more easily on the needle than mine were. But you made the point of keeping the stitches on the needle to alleviate the tight stitch that I had been creating by not doing the same as you! So, as a newbie to knitting, this piece of information truly helps me. The needles are very nice to work with because there is not so much cord flopping around. I love mine! Thank you so much.

I've had these for a few months now and I think they're great!mI have 2 sets, one is sock size and one is larger for finishing hats and such!mI really prefer the sharper needle! Thanks for Sharing! I do agree that everyone should give them a chance and practice with them, You demonstrated the way to knit with them perfectly and I feel that with the 2 sets that I purchased, I made a nice investment for what use I'll be getting out of them!

Thank you for your overview. I recently purchased a set from my LYS and found them quite useful when turning a German short row heel in a pair of socks I had previously started on DPNs. The flexi-flips held the stitches quite securely during all the short-row shaping.

I can't wait to get mine. I'm using the bee keeper quilt thing for the cast on. I found that working with 3 straight needles can be an issue till you get the hang of it. These will make it so much easier to knit the bee keeper quilt, available on Ralvery. And socks of course. I did knit a pair of house socks using the 3 needle thing. It was a breeze. I am so excited. Thank you for feeding my needle addiction. Naw... I just already use 3 needles and with the flex, it should make it much easier. Thank you so much!!!

I agree with your comment about supporting the local yarn shop. I've seen two close in the last year in the Seattle area and I'm sick over it. Buy online all you want, knitters, but who's going to be there to help you when you have knitting questions or problems with a project? One of the shops that closed helped me with magic loop, which I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. Staci, thank you for the product review.

Glad I tried these! I got the hang of them pretty quickly, and I'm loving them! I really like my EasyKnit 10" circs, but I think I'm converted. Especially since I can't seem to find the EasyKnit in 2.75mm. The price tag was keeping me away, but they're totally worth it.

I really liked your review of the addi trio needles. I defiantly support the one remaining LYS in my area but they don’t carry addi products. When these needles first came out, I purchased my three sets, (varying sizes for socks and hats) directly from an addi dealer in Germany and paid $60, US$’s for all three, with shipping and handling. They recommended a video to view however, it was narrated only in German. Still, you did get a sense of how to use them via the hand motions. I have pretty large hands and find the needles a about a half inch too short for comfort. The one end tends to stick into the fleshy part of my palm therefore, I only knit with the turbo point so the blunt point is against my palm. Thanks for the review, I really found it informative.

Thanks for the video! I had never heard of these until someone in my online knitting forum asked if anyone had used them and someone else posted the link to your video. I end up “collecting” needles and have several sets of every size and length and have used DPN’s for many years. I also use a “stopper” on the end sometimes of the dpn’s to stop the stitches from falling off if there are more stitches on the needle then will stay. I have often used up to 5 dpns,depending on the project. I’m not sure that these would be all that useful for me, but I will be on the lookout for a second hand pair to try out. I have never managed to be comfortable with the magic loop method, but have no trouble with laddering using the DPN’s. All I do to prevent that is move the stitches around a bit every few rows or so. Then the break occurs in a different place. But these do look cool, I just think that their usefulness is a bit too limited considering the price tag. Thanks for a great demo!

Thank you for this very interesting review, Staci! I think I would love these a lot, and I believe they would probably make my sock knitting faster. As far as supporting our local yarn shops, I would love to do that; however, I'm a near-shut-in, not getting out much due to health issues. I never know when I'm going to be feeling up to venturing out, so I have resorted to almost strictly online buying. I will keep my eye out on those Etsy shops that are selling them for availability in my go-to size. Etsy shops are small businesses, too, so it's almost like supporting LYS's.

Loved the video! I basically watched this as the delivery of my needles we’re headed my way😂😂 After using them for a few days I wanted to come back and say that one of the differences I noticed with the FlexiFlips Squared long is that one side of each of the needles has got BUMPY bumps and one side is less extreme bumps! The pointed tips are perfect for sock yarn! I have tried to knit socks all the ways possible and before these, the ONLY WAY I could knit socks without laddering was to use DPNs since exactly like you say, I can pull the yarn tight against a needle! These are perfection and I am just sad I didn’t know about them before I invested in 9” circular needles AND the red lace minis from Chaigoo which I forced myself to learn to use but it was really hurting my hands to do so. Thanks for a great demonstration! I saw these needles in person for the first time last weekend at a local fiber arts festival and was so impressed. My LYS had a booth and I was excited to see them. I don't know if my LYS does online orders, but, my LYS is Knitters Knitch in Blairsville, GA and they have them if you live in or near the North Georgia Mountains. They also have many other Addi needles and some other brands as well. The ladies there are very nice and super helpful. I have definite plans on purchasing a few sets. :)

Thank you for the demo review. I got a pair and finished my first FlexiFlip sock this afternoon with a sock inspired by Rose City Rollers. I love these needles! There were some issues, of course. I prefer a toe-up, and I just couldn't get my cast on to work. So I went top down. Everything I've read says you can't do a gusset/heel flap with these needles. So I used Priscilla Wild's heel. I opted for a 2X2 rib for the insole with a stockinette sole. And because I really love it, I used a star toe. I had no problems with laddering; I know that's a concern for many. The biggest problem was I kept dropping the empty needle in the beginning. Of course, that meant my exercise routine went beyond chasing after and picking up stitch markets that flew off the projects to bending down and picking up a needle. Oh, that's Tofutsies yarn

HI Staci, I have finally got a set of flexi flips, and am knitting my first pair of socks with them. I enjoy both DPNs and magic loop, but was having a hard time finding a good way to knit with these. I find the needle tips flop around more than the magic loop cable and poke me more than DPNs and I had to do the toe up cast on over with magic loop to get a better knitted tension. But before I decided against these, I looked for videos on how to hold them and I am glad I found yours. I am hoping that with practice I will like these as much as knitting the other ways and I wanted to thank you for the clear demo on needle and yarn handling. This will give me a better start.

These also work well for stranded mittens, especially in small sizes. Not having the loop helps when you are already juggling more than one strand of yarn and working a chart. I like to use 8-9 inch circulars but they are too small for toddler-sized stranded mittens. The Flips worked great for that!

Oh! These are very intriguing! I’ve never knit socks mostly because I’m not a huge fan of magic loop or DPNs! I’ll have to find these somewhere and see how I feel about them! They’d also probably be good for sweater sleeves! Thanks for the awesome review!

Those are some pretty cool needles and I see the advantages. My only objection is ... I love knitting 2 socks at a time because that ensures I get both socks knitted!! Thanks for the overview. I might want to add a couple sets to my slowly growing collection. I think they would be great for knitting baby sweater sleeves!!

I have these. They're great for small circumstance decreases. I can't manage magic loop somehow. So I use these and 9inch circs for socks and mittens. Love them.

I recently got a really cool needle to knit socks. I've used dpns before but I just couldn't get rid of the ladders. I got the addi sock wonder, and it's so good to knit socks with. I can not recommended it enough

Just received my CraSyTrio's.I ordered them after watching your overview.I live in the uk and am lucky because my 2.5 needles were easy to order and were shipped the following day. I love my other Addi's and my Short Lace interchangeable set.I do not like magic loop it is too fiddly for me and dpn's leave a ladder in my socks,so I use 2.5mm 30cm circulars but these needles look ideal for everything including sock toes when my circulars get too long and I have to resort to dpn's.I shall maybe buy one more size in the future.Thank you for a great overview.

Thank you for this great demonstration. I have wondered if these would be good to purchase. I am a new sock knitter and so far have used 9". I would like to try other methods in the future so when I do then I may think about buying these. I think these would be much better then magic loop simply because you don't have to move the needles around so much. These seem more manageable and comfortable. :)

These are EXACTLY what I need. I am a die-hard 9" circular girl. I hate magic loop and dpn but I want to knit baby socks (too small for my beloved circs) for my new granddaughter-to-be. I think these will be perfect! Come to think of it, thumbs of socks should be much easier too...

Thanks for this very thorough review, especially the part about avoiding ladders. I've been intrigued by these for a long time and finally caved and ordered a set today (size 0). My preferred sock heel is the Fleegle, and on magic loop I end up with ladders because when you're done doing the increases, the heel side of the needle ends up having almost twice as many stitches as the instep, which causes a lot of stretching at the sides. I'm hoping the Flexiflips help with this. Thanks for all the videos and podcasts you do!

Great review Staci! I love anything Addi puts out so I may just have to try these. My Addi clicks are so enjoyable to work with. If I need a sharper tip I go to Knitters Pride Nova Platina. I am in the process of mastering dpns. I wasn’t going to bother with magic loop but my teacher has a project that she wants us to use magic loop. So I guess it will be one more skill to put in my arsenal. I can’t wait to compare these with dpns! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I also use my flexiflips for stranded mittens and my tension is much smoother. They are worth their cost in making the thumb alone! I also use them on the toe of Christmas socks. (Not a sock knitter). I did find that I can and did pull the yarn from one needle to the next too tightly. I highly recommend them

Ohhhhhh sweet baby Jesus, I need these! I absolutely hate (with a passion) using dpn and I'm not a fan of the magic loop either (because of the ladder issue). With these OMG 😍 I could fall back in love again!

I appreciate your review of the Flexi-Flips. Years ago I learned to knit socks on DPNs and when I learned, the teacher said to avoid 2nd sock syndrome she had 2 sets of DPNs and would go back and forth on each set. For example she would cast on and knit the cuff then cast on and knit the cuff on the 2nd set, etc. I would have to buy 2 sets of Flexi-Flips $$$. I learned Magic Loop and have done 2 at a time but it's not my favorite. The loops are annoying. I guess everyone has to pick their favorite sock method.

I found them well stocked at Vicky's shop in Columbia MO while visiting Dad. I think it's Castaway yarn shop? Great place, lovely owner (Vicky)and knitters hanging around. I like them for small work, like mitts or as Staci says, socks. Magic loop drives me crazy; I don't know why but I can't stand it. These Addi are fast/slick, good tension, a little less fussy than 4 little dpn's at a time. I keep my one set (us 1) in the tube, they don't stash well in my chia goo circulars kit. They were expensive, so I like to see them in their 'expensive' little tube 😃

I'm glad you did a review on them; thank you! I normally do Magic Loop for socks (and hats) and the ladders can be quite annoying. I was impressed that the ladder on your sock demo was very minimal, but I didn't like the sound of a set being so expensive.

I'm not yet ready for those. But I will for sure keep them in mind. I have only knitted a couple hats.. and failed at socks..however I haven't given up!

I love this kind of needles especially for socks, and I even use for kid hats, however stitches at the end of needles kept coming out, so I cut piece of erase for the end of needles to stop stitches from coming out. this type of needles are way easier on my hands, much smoother to knit. It s much faster to knit as well. I bought them from yarn store after I asked them to order for me, and I told them about how I felt about this. I bought two sizes which I often used for socks, and hats. For adult hats, I had to use pieces (stopper, whatever it is called) to prevent stitches from coming out. it is also quicker to knit. VERY VERY comfortable to knit. Bonus is that I don't have to change needles at the end of hat. Caution: at first, it is awkward to knit, but once get used to it, it s quicker and very addictive! I even used 9" needles (harder on hands due to "tight space") I tried many different needles for sock, and hats. This needles are the best because of hands.

The Yarn Haven in Knoxville, TN carries these as well. I got mine there a couple months ago. I have been knitting with them, but I still prefer my addi turbo circular sock needles.

Many thanks! I've been looking for an alternative to Magic Loop (which I like) but which was giving problems sliding stitches from cable to needle. Your video explained why--I had been tightening the stitches on the cable when changing needles. I'll see if that works--otherwise, the Addis sound really good.

Great video, as usual! l have a suggestion regarding ladders, l shift my stitches every few rows. By that l mean l put a stitch marker for the beginning of the row but shift a couple of stitches over that way you are not changing needles in the same spot all the time. l hope that makes sense. On another note, seeing you work with these needles convinced me to give them a go. l'm not a sock knitter but do make HEAPS of fair isle Christmas tree baubles each year. These will make things easier for sure. No more 'where did that damned needle go' LOL

Thanks for a great review although I have been using Addi CraSyTrio (same) for a few months and after initial use put them down for a few weeks then went back to using them and now it is my preferred method with Dpns next (I was a magic loop lover once) for the quality and strength I find them a of good value for a lifetime use.

The FlexiFlips2--squared tips--are even more expensive. They got rave reviews, though, so I bought one set. I will be using them on my sleeves. If I really really like them, I'll get other sizes, tbd. Thanks for your review!

Thank you Staci, I really appreciate the Product overview. I am having a problem with the Magic Loop Method with the Needles i am using, aggrivating. Think I will buy a set of these. And I am not knitting my socks anymore because of the cord not second sock syndrome.

I couldn't find sizes I wanted at my LYS, so I ended up ordering them online and had to wait about 2 months to get them. I only paid $38 for the 2 sets! My LYS didn't get them till after I already had the ones I ordered. Haven't tried them yet, because I didn't want to switch from magic loop to the Flips. I find that if I switch to a different needle, my gauge changes. Next socks I make will be on the FlexiFlips.

I purchased a set. I've been trying to knit comfortably with them for weeks. They don't work at all with my style of knitting, which I've tried hard to accommodate to the FlexiFlips. In fact they slow down my knitting and give me hand cramps. I've thrown in the towel and returned to using DPNs. Since I don't have laddering issues with DPNs and I knit much faster on them, there's no point in continuing to struggle with FlexiFlips. I was curious so I bought a set. My questions have been answered. I've been lending my FlexiFlips to knitters in my weekly knitting group, and so far none of them has fallen madly in love with these needles (comments have ranged from "nah" to "that's really different"). I think FlexiFlips are probably better for some knitting styles than others (the Continental knitters who tried them liked the FlexiFlips a little better than the ones who knit English style). If you're on a tight budget (as some of us knitters are), borrow and try before you buy because they're too expensive to become throwaway items.

I ended up ordering mine from Holst Garn in Denmark as I was placing an order for yarn, they came in a box. I paid about US$ 20.00. Just checked an they have them discounted 15% so US$17.79 right now. Like one of the other comments, wish the cord was a bit longer and I have problems holding those tiny needles, also why I'm not a fan of the 9 inch circulars. Hard to knit for any length of time when your hands keep cramping up but that is me. Would be good for plane knitting.

I use them to make baby hats for charity. I used to use magic loop but like the flexiflips more. I like little needles since my hands are small. It took me knitting one hat to get the hang of it.

These are really cool! I use dpns a lot but they aren't my favourite...they are fussy...and magic loop doesn't work for my brain...lol! I knit a lot of baby items and work night shifts in my hospital unit (12 hour shifts = a lot of finished projects!) and of course I knit for as many of those hours as possible. I find the aluminum dpns are actually quite noisy (for night time work knitting! ) and I don't like bamboo dps because the baby yarn doesn't slip as nicely...also I've got serious butterfingers and am constantly dropping the loose needle and that usually leads to a few quiet not so favourable words whispered under one's breath. Ha! I am definitely going to hunt some of these down!! As the official unit knitter, I'm constantly knitting baby items (the baby onslaught is just incredible these days!) and am tired of fighting and fussing with dpns at work!! Thanks Staci!!!

I am not a fan of magic loop. I love my dpns. I also love my 9", 10", 11" circs . The new addi flexi flips are great! Yes, you can live without them, but I really enjoy them and have a few different sizes. Great for socks, and wee things.

I wonder which you like between the Addi 9" sock needle where one needle tip is longer and the Flexi-Flips, which you prefer? I tried a 9" sock needle by Clover and it was so hard for me. My hands used to have terrible arthritis and via diet, my hands are pain-free most of the time. But the Clovers made my hands go numb. That is not pain but I could not work more than 3-4" and had to put them down. I am into the sock thing, I had my lace bug and now it is socks. I purchased a set a while ago and couldn't wait for them to arrive! Boy, was I in for a disappointment...maybe I should have tried to knit an inch too, but I just didn't have the patience. I found them to be awkward and it seemed the tips were somehow constantly in the way. Nah, I prefer my DPNs or circs for sock knitting...

Ladder down the work? Whenever I use double pointed needles I can always tell all the way down through the work where my needles of them so I try and at least rotate or switch around where they are placed because it’s obvious… Why? Doesn’t matter what I do with my tension I can always seem to see it

I really like how these seem to work as I do not enjoy Magic Loop at all. I find it a pain to constantly need to pull the cord & slide things this way & that way. I want to make the stitches, not keep playing around the needles & have to set up each row. However, that said, the cost would be higher for me as when I make socks, (rarely), I like to have 2 identical sets of needles (DNP) so that I can work on both socks at the same time, working a row on one, repeat same row on second, etc... So I would want 2 sets.

Good review and demo. These are an interesting concept, but until/unless the price comes down, just too expensive for a trial. (Lesson learned from past trials: Bought both 9-inch circulars and longer circs for magic loop, but found that I just didn't like them as much as DPNs. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! :-D )

I love my Addi Flexiflips. I had to order them from Germany and they are called Crazy Trios over there. They make sock knitting a breeze and I've also used them to make eyeglass cases (think tube socks for glasses) and several other small items. I had no problem using double pointed needles although I know a number of people who run screaming from them, but I much prefer the Flexis. They pretty much get out of the way and let you knit, which is the point, right? Thank you for the review!

I have arthritis. I tried dpns but they are too fiddly. 9" chiaogoo are my go to for socks and sleeves. I knit continental and like to knit at the very tips. So the small movements with the small circs are way easier on my hands, and I can knit up a sleeve in no time. I like the little hiyahiya bamboo for some yarns as well. But hey, to each their own.
