He drifted into the line of the other driver, WTF are you talking about? He thought he was so good nobody could overtake him so he was drifting across the driving line the whole vid. This is what happens when your ego exceeds your ability!

@@bobdowne7897 He was in front, and it's likely he didn't see the guy coming up from behind. He didn't "drift into the driving line of the _other_ driver", he was continuing into _the_ driving line, and the other driver bit off more than he could chew. He shouldn't have tried to overtake at that location unless he was massively faster than the OP, which he clearly wasn't. He thought he was hot shit and they both paid for it. What he should have done was slowed down and followed the OP until there was a safe spot to pass. I mean, mistakes happen, but this was not the OP's fault. He was in front, and as such has the right of way.

100% agree. My heart was pounding… it looked so quick (and controlled) I was super angsty that something really big, at high speed (like a tyre letting go or something), was going to happen… given the title. Anticipation was mega😳

Let alone trying to pass until the camera car decided to moved back onto the racing line and ended up on the red car. Are you on the racing line, or on the other side of the track from it, then last second back on it? Not picking one is silly at those speeds as you saw. Glad everyone is safe.

To me it looks as a miscalculated divebomb. He hasn't seen it coming and the guy though he would havegotten by. Happens a lot and pisses out the guy in front but, hey, that's racing and shit happens.

@@jason21jburg it's not crystal clear, I agree. I watched it about 7 or 8 times...imagine if you had an aerial view. How fast was the guy passing going comparatively? I don't have mirrors as I wasn't driving, so I didn't now he was even on the track. Without seeing the track in person at that section, it's impossible to conclude exactly what happened. If you are in front, pick your line, that's your advantage. Stick to it if you want to finish?😀

The other driver will likely have good spatial awareness, he was just pushing hard to try to make a move on the camera car.. and having just come into the braking zone, probably just lost the rear end on the brakes either from inexperience or too much rear brake bias.. or being squeezed a bit, thought the gap was going to close completely and braked too hard. Highly doubt he just steered into him. If it was just a track day he shouldn't have been trying to race him though.

@@paulhope3401 the crash comes just after the camera car moves across to the left, likely pushing the other car off the track. If you look at the track surface, it seems like the camera car moves off the racing line, which is the standard procedure to allow a faster driver to safely pass, then moves back across just before the braking zone. The worst place to cut someone off. The other driver likely didn't anticipate this and executed a power off emergency lane change while standing on the brakes, which these cars do not like at all. The rear comes out, you're off track, you don't want to hit the wall and roll it, so you react and go the other way. On grass, it's a guaranteed spin.

I assume this is a track day and the other driver thought they are keeping to the right to let them by.

the car with the camera was fully on the right of the track, the other driver probably thought he was there to let them by. Misunderstanding obviously since the racing line on this track is somewhat to the right there.

His line was the same both laps. Car attempting pass had plenty of time to back out. This was only a track day. Any circuit that runs a track day/HPDE without required passing signals is foolish.

Most definitely, I bet the cleanup/maintenance fees they tack on aren't cheap if you dirty the track.

So you are correct to a point, I do know about this first hand. After my first week on an ambulance I swore I would never sit on a motorcycle again.

@@14miledashcamvideos41 That's what really spoils trackdays. Done a few myself and thankfully most adhere to the rules, but there are some who shouldn't really be there.

Track day rules are just helmet and long sleeves. Mandatory gloves is racing only, and even then it always used to vary between championships - not sure about now as I always wear them when racing for safety. It’s far better driving without them though - far better.

Car chassis had to be replaced unfortunately. Not sure what the other driver was thinking, but he clearly forgot it was a track day and not a race. He learned a valuable lesson that day:)

Accidents happen, but it looked like he was diving into (loss of control) which happens, we are all human, but if you are pushing that hard on a track day, maybe a good lesson to keep some distance... glad you're ok and the Atom can be repaired, unfortunately still no cure for lack if common sense...

Sorry, but you’re wrong. It’s a track day. The pursuing car should only overtake when there is a safe opportunity to do so. They pursuing driver would have known this if he had of taken the time to attend the pre-track meeting. Both the Track Marshals and Race Insurance deemed the other driver is at fault, but I guess you know something they don’t?:)

Too bad the driver didn't think he was in a touring race, they look in the rear more than out the front.. and they don't cut across 4 lanes on the track and crash into someone lolol

@@14miledashcamvideos41 it’s just a precaution to cover the whole body in case of crash or fire. But f*** that most importantly you had fun and came out safe. Forgive my annoyance but; Question: is this just lapping around a circuit or is it a proper race? I want to understand when the other car hit you was it for a position in the race or just another car that happened to be lapping around the circuit? Thanks for your reply btw

@@fahada1921 Thanks, I thought it might be that. It was just a track day, hence the other guy shouldn’t have been trying to overtake there. He was a total amateur and couldn’t distinguish between a race and a track day. He actually wrote off my friends car. Luckily race insurance found the other guy at fault.:)
