This video is kind of a "How To" for Small Logs using our WoodMizer LX250 Sawmill to mill up some small logs into slabs. We have gotten alot of questions about how this sawmill will cut smaller logs, so we made you all a video to show ya! This WoodMizer LX250 sawmill is really meant for cutting large logs, but as you will see in this video, it is not really that difficult to cut smaller logs with it. Slabbing, cookie cuts, or dimensional lumber... Small scale custom sawmills can be so useful in so many ways!!! And we are happy to share our adventures in saw milling and custom woodworking here with you all. We made this video to show that there are lots of uses for a Wood-Mizer Sawmill other than just sawing lumber. We currently have a WoodMizer LX250 Wide Slab sawmill, a WoodMizer LT40 Super Hydraulic, a Lucas 10/30 Swing mill with slabber and planer and also a Lucas DSM23 Dedicated Slabber.

This is so helpful as showed can use large sawmill to cut small timber as well as big timber

Listen, If I were able to have a wonderful saw like you have, Id cut and sell Anything I darn well want to...I have a lot of Black Walnut, and White Oak logs that would fit very well on that machine, but just havnt been able to afford it yet...Keep Up The Sawing.

Thanks Mike! Just wanted to show how easy it is to cut some smaller stuff with this mill! It works pretty well for smalls as well as larger stuff too!

@@KnottHeadCustomSawingFabWorx ty appreciate the help😁👍did u have to do any adjustments on the blade or she cutting perfect from factory I see there is alot of shit that can be adjusted to keep blade cutting straight

@@graysquirreltreeservice7299 There are alot of things that can be adjusted but it should be cutting pretty good out of the gate, but as with any equipment, occasional adjustment may be needed, and its not really all too bad to do an alignment when you follow the basics that are covered in the manual 👍🏼 but feel free to let me know if you ever have any questions!

The LX 250 seems like a great machine. I know its a Kohler gas 38hp efi--does it cut as well as the diesel on your previous LT 15 and is it as reliable?

Fiat, we do like this Kohler 38HP gas engine and have zero issues with it! We have an LT40 Super with over 4500 hours on this same engine! We did freshen up the valves on it and massage the intake a little bit but not at all because we had to, we did it just because, but both of the 38HP Kohlers we have, have been very good to us over the years!

What do you put on the slab face a oil and water mixer

are you talking about while we are sawing or when we are washing the slabs off? washing the slabs off we just use water from the hose... while cutting we use a water and lube mix for cooling and keeping the blades clean

word to the wise....the lx 250 is lacking in weight design in the stand up rail stop department...I have had 15,000 lb logs bend the dogs....twice gdmit.... Its not the dogs, its in the way the dogs are attached to the mill....Wood mixer if you read this feel free to respond.

I can see that happening 🤷🏻‍♂️ but at the same time one has to keep in mind that this LX250 was not really designed around milling 15,000 pound logs... WoodMizer even states that the weight limit of the bed is around 5000 pounds, I do not remember the exact number they state, just getting at it wasn’t really designed around having a 15,000 pound log placed on it... When we put really heavy stuff on we try to be easy with it because we know it wasn’t really meant for the overloading we do to the bed, an 11,000 pound walnut was the heaviest we have placed on ours thus far, and most of the time we do not even use the backstops or the clamps
