I have so deeply appreciated Dr. Beeke's guidance on assurance: assurance was NEVER discussed during the year I floundered at the OPC in Crystal Lake, Illinois, during the first year of my conversion after a lifetime of Roman Catholicism, where people seemed to take for granted that as long as you show up for worship on Lord's Day mornings at an "orthodox" Presbyterian church, you're in. Dr. Beeke had personally discipled me more than the useless WTS graduate in a congregation of less than two dozen ever did, and I don't believe the WTS graduate could have cared less whether I remained Roman Catholic or not: there's a reason why the OPC is called the frozen chosen.

I just read this book and in my opinion it has been the best help for me regarding this struggle. I have read other great works by John MacArthur and John Owen, and Dr. Beeke's approach touched my personal experiences much deeper.
