Fatimah Tuggar is a multidisciplinary artist who uses technology as both a medium and subject in her work to serve as metaphors for power dynamics. She incorporates objects, images, and sounds from diverse cultures, geographies, and histories to comment on how digital media and technology shape local and global experiences.
For "knowledges", Tuggar created video installations that reflect on moments in her own academic career and the careers of others that were the result of workplace bullying that impeded freedom of inquiry. Videos projected as holograms act as a metaphor to critique the academy, suggesting that its promises may also be an illusion based on systems of inherent exclusion.
