Crooks part is honestly one of my favorite displays of lyricism I've ever heard. Also, Charge us, bodies fill up the damn rivers (Chargers - Phillip Rivers? First time I heard that I listened to it like 8 times and came up with another entendre every damn time 🤣🤣🤣🔥🔥🔥 that man is ridiculous 💯

Man the wordplay from Knox in the beginning. “A free circle, it’s kinda pointless but it’s free.” Having a free circle is pointless because it is a mere shape. Also, it’s LITERALLY pointless, a circle has no points!🤯🔥 Even when he’s doin his intro, he got doubles for us!🔥😂

Actually no after Yelawolfs fisrt album the let him do his thing, he dropped a couple of them, i think 2 or three more, including Love Story which had Best Friend on it. Yelawolf actually is one of the very few artists besides 50 that had a successful run with Shady, he moved on just cause his contract was up and wanted to be indie and do his thing with his artists...

Damn. Joe Budden's verse hit hard. So raw and emotional and real. I'm only just getting into rap, and I really appreciate these breakdowns to get the depth I wouldn't be able to reach myself. A lot of bars seem to be centered about bigging yourself up, and after a while, it feels like the topic in itself is meaningless, and it's all about the rhymes, the rhythm and the doubles. But that shit Joe Budden dropped was real. Thoughts and emotions that needed to be expressed, be worked through, materialized, put into words, and rap was a great medium to do it. Sometimes words feel like.. They just lose meaning after a while. So much of what is said has been said a million times before. For him to put these thoughts and emotions into words in a new way really put back meaning into them. I have a lot of respect for him getting down and personal, vulnerable, share the things he's going through. Provide some real human connection. Especially in these times, when so many are putting their loved ones in the grave and have their minds occupied by worries, it's powerful to hear this breakdown. Thank you for introducing me to the impact that is possible through rap. Again, I'm completely new in engaging in this genre, so it really means a lot. ETA: Then Yelawolf's beautiful storytelling afterwards. Kxng Crooked with BLM and the media references. Joelle Ortiz.. Damn, these all have so much flavour, in each their own right. Knox, thank you so much for introducing to this! And the vast knowledge you've got, jezz. You're wild. Thank you for making rap available.

Knox, I'll throw you a curveball. Have you ever listened to The Streets, a UK band headed by Mike Skinner? He has a pretty unique style of rapping. "Original Pirate Material", either the track or the album. Or you could do a review of the entire "A Grand Don't Come For Free" album. Hard to pick a single track because the album tells a story from start to finish but Blinded By The Lights is probably the biggest hit from it.

A few things extra was Ortiz was wearing House Slippers, which was also his 3rd album, which ties into his 3 in/and 1 scheme. Also "I can tell you why I'm hot then disappear like Mims". This cypher was one of, if not the first public sign of Joe's frustrations with Shady. So he's in this verse telling us "Why he's Hot" why he's mad. Great video as always! Looking forward to the next one.

When he says, "He's smoking the new boys like his last habit...dab nab it." He's saying his last habit was smoking dab. Also, he had just talked about Rap addicts. He then continues the scheme with a double when he references the "the last dragon." I believe he is also saying everything he kicks is like his last high when he kicked his habit. For drug addicts, "chase the dragon" means 2 things...1) always trying to get higher than the last time...eventually their tolerance is so high they can't get high at all anymore, & 2) it describes a manner of smoking drugs on tin foil with a tube when the heat keeps the drugs moving & creating smoke. The then continues the scheme with a triple when he said "jumping on his bandwagon" cuz when u r sober, it's called "being on the wagon."

Admittedly I'm not well studied in rap OGs, but a good way to drop Kendrick on your channel would be a double feature. Start with a Kendrick track then do Harry mack freestyles over Kendrick beats in front of Kendrick.
