Sister the below tips may be useful to you: Maintain the iron vessels 1. Wash the iron vessels thoroughly; 2. Salt and castor oil - 3 tbps each - roast these in the vessel 3. Wash again 4. Continue the step mentioned in 2 above. 5.Do this for 5-6 times 6. Once the vessel becomes black, you can start using it If you feel the above process is long and difficult, you can think of buying the pre seasoned iron kadais. These are available in Amazon & brand name is Lodge. Also please note the following: 1. Never use any soap or detergent to clean the vessel 2. Use only plain water & the brush 3. Don't soak in the water for long 4. If the vessel is sticky due to usage, heat the water in that iron vessel and clean it with brush. 5. Don't cook sour rich items like tamarind or lemon for long time 6. Keep the vessels by applying oil over it always, once the cooking over. Pitalai & vengalam (bronze & ) brass You can use Pitambari cleaning powder; also you use tamarind and salt for cleaning. Mud Pot Usually you can clean the mud pot in the normal water with the brush & without any cleaning powder or liquid; once in a while (not often) you can use the cleaning powder used for any other vessel. Sister, you can get this in Nasiyanoor (Erode) (opp : Mariamman Temple)- contact 9952176286 - few shops are there nearby/ around this area . During pongal festival time, you will get lot of varieties. In Coimbatore, the mud vessels are available at Organic Sai Bhavan Shop, Sivananda Mill Road - their contact no. 0422 6463336.
