Kobalt Freestanding Garage Cabinet Assembly and Review

In this Steve's Garage video I assemble and review a Kobalt Garage Cabinet from Lowes. This is another video for my series about organizing my garage. If you haven't seen the others, you should check them out!
This Kobalt cabinet is the style with the bottom drawer instead of doors all the way down. It comes in 3 different colors, but assembly is the same for all. Below are the model numbers as well as a link to the cabinet I purchased.
All Black - 19195

I purchased my cabinet on clearance, and the price was not indicated as such online. If you're interested in some garage cabinets or storage, I suggest taking some time to drive around to your local big box home improvement stores and see if they're getting rid of a floor model or some clearance stock.

I still just have what came with my house. Some shelfs and a cabinet that's not as nice....but something like this from Kobalt might be just what I need. I love how functional they made it. You did a great and thorough showcase of the product!

Glad you liked the video! It's taken me a while to figure out what to do with my garage, and it's still very much a work in progress. These cabinets are pretty great, and if you want to spend ALL the money you can have a nice cohesive look with all different size and style cabinets. That goes for pretty much any brand, but these do have some nice extra features like the option for a lower drawer or the pegboard hooks.

@@StevesGarage Yeah, the pegboards are a great touch. I just double checked my cabinet to confirm it's just basic. Only shelves, so next upgrade will have to be a nicer one for sure.

@@Ideal-Setup My biggest issue with all my existing storage was the lack of adjustability. Everything was fixed/nailed into place and didn't hold what I needed it to. Having the ability to adjust to what you're storing makes it much better.

Just picked up several of these because there was a great deal, thanks for posting the video to help prepare me for the process. Also thanks for mentioning the warranty, I think people often forget to check them out before doing work arounds or worse, paying for replacement parts!

@@mikelaan61970Awesome that you got a deal on multiples! I think they do offer a clean look for a garage set-up. Did you go with the black and silver like mine, or a different finish? And speaking of the warranty, knowing my experience with it I bet I could get some of the dented panels replaced if I wanted to.

You must have gotten the same clearance deal as i did. $152. I immediately grabbed a cart when i saw the tag lol. Thanks for the upload.

Yes! I don't know why some of them are priced so cheap but I'll take it! I keep going back to see if more are marked down but I haven't lucked out.

Did you anchor this to the wall? Is it necessary?

It comes with straps to anchor it to a wall and it's a good idea to anchor it. I didn't anchor it at the time of filming since the drywall in my garage is double layered and I wasn't sure about the final placement.

Noooo I'm so sorry. I was really bummed about losing the footage, and I didn't figure that out until the cabinet was assembled, moved, and had all the detail supplies in it. Did you figure out the drawer assembly?
