Been watching this kid for long and but It was like watching a young Paul Pogba, Mainoo is even better on the defensive side. He's ready to be a real part of the squad like Garnacho.

Mainoo plays just like Pogba, he is everywhere, he is calm, able to see his players as well as the opponents, he doesn't panic with the ball

The area that will hopefully improve with a bit more experience and confidence is making decisive forward passes to find players between the lines. At the moment he still makes a lot of sideways and backwards passes to retain safe possession, but that can give the opposition the time to get back and organised. He however is a huge talent who I expect will become a star for United. Developing his left foot a bit more won't hurt either.

@@gustaaf1892hat's because it's the basics, and he does it 100% well. For the long passes maybe he chose not to go long quit often, ( could be instructions from the manager to keep it simple) but everytime he does, it's 99% accurate pass. For me he is ready, he will add some muscle / stamina with time and workouts.

I really hope so. My biggest fear is that something happens to muck it up, like those players who "nearly" made it but for some "sliding doors" moment where they took the wrong turning! The fact that he came so close & was thwarted by injury. I mean I really hope that I'm wrong because this lad has to be the most exciting prospect for donkeys years. If you didn't know him & just saw him play you wouldn't believe that he was so young an absolute diamond 💎

Mainoo doesn't look rushed at all. Looks more like Sergio Busquets with his calm demeanor and passing. After being subjected to McFred in midfield, the current ManUtd midfield seems like a breathe of fresh air.

Why do people always compare him to Pogba? Or say that we've got the next Pogba on our hands? Hopefully he'll develop into some what of a mix of Casemiro and Bruno Fernándes, not only 2 elite footballers but 2 model professionals and he turns out absolutely nothing like Paul Pogba. He's powerful, classy on the ball and comfortable under pressure. Edgar Davids, Clarence Seedorf, even a young Paul scholes comes to mind when trying to compare the lad before Pogba does.

Considering his age, Im impressed with his decision making skills and being able to remain composed with his next move of play. He seems like an intelligent player. Seems pretty good at finding players in space or during their timely runs as well. Of course this is simply his highlights and pre-season alone is not a really true reflection of ones capabilities, but he definately looks like he has great potential. Im sure Ten Hag is looking at these performances with low-key admiration, and holds intentions of bringing the potential out of this kid and turning it into something promising, similar to how he handled Garnacho's progress

Don’t build him up to fail. Pre season is not a good guide. He needs pitch time and will make mistakes.

Given that we have a limited amount of transfer money available, that is a question I have as well. We should be prioritising the positions we absolutely need to bring new players in for. Furthermore, we paid far too much for Mount when he only had a year left on his Chelsea contract.
