Kobe is probably the best talk show guest ever. There are never any awkward moments, he’s charming, polite, respectful, hilarious, energetic, knows how to articulate himself well, and is just a wealth of knowledge. I loved watching his post-retirement guest appearances and interviews the most because he was so happy and always sharing stories about his family or memorable moments from his Lakers career. It’s bitter sweet watching them now just knowing how genuinely happy he was and how much excitement he had for the future, then to have his life cut short so abruptly... I feel like I can’t get through one of these without crying now... sigh. It’s not hard to see why the world is mourning as hard as they are over his death, even after so many weeks have passed. Just watching Kobe on TV, on the court and in countless interviews over the last 20 years, you really feel like you’ve gotten to know him on a personal level with just the way he carries himself. God, I’m going to miss him. This one will forever hurt.

Beautifully said. I feel the exact same way. I can't stop myself from watching Kobe videos, because I don't want to forget him, but it also hurts to watch them. And you are totally right, he seemed so happy and at peace being with his girls and moving on from basketball. Feel lucky that i was alive to watch him play his whole career, but so terribly sad for his family who not only lost him, but also GG, who was just starting her life. It's just so unfair.

What makes his passing so hard to accept is that there wasn't any self-destructive behaviour in him. Kobe was at the happiest point of his life when he died so unexpectedly. What makes the whole event incredibly sad was that his daughter he couldn't stop talking about died with him, and that 7 other people died with them who all have loved ones whose lives dramatically changed overnight. Jan 26, 2020 was the time when the news just couldn't stop getting worse.

B Miles you think flying in a helicopter is a self destructive behavior? People fly in helicopters ALL THE TIME and nothing goes wrong. Nothing is supposed to go wrong. It’s just as “self destructive” to get in a freaking car. There’s always a chance something can go wrong, but you can’t just do nothing in life because of that chance..you still have to do things. If anything, his decision to fly in a helicopter for years was because he valued time with his family and didn’t want to spend hours and hours of precious time traveling through LA traffic

MrJre4491 Kobe is an asshole on the court he was ruthless that was just his style. Often time people just assume that's how he always is but its not the case. You will hear countless stories of MJ treating people like shit even celebrities but no one expects that from him because he didn't exude that vibe on the court. I guarantee that most if not all of Kobe's fan interactions are positive

ok this might sound strange to you at first, but stay with me for a second: I actually think Jimmy's "fake laugh" is his genuine reaction. Jimmy is just not the kind of guy who really bursts out into loud laughter. (you know, like a James Corden kinda laugh) But when someone does a joke that was funny, but not as funny so you're dying in laughter, then it would be really weird to just have him sit there and giggle/laugh quietly and it would also really take the energy out of a conversation. so he tries to get some more reaction out of himself, which is often seen as his "fake laugh" .
