I hope Ohtani becomes baseball version of Kobe. He was loved and respected by everyone in the world. People listened to his words, and he had so much influence on people. Maybe I’m asking too much but I really hope Ohtani learns English and becomes commentator or something later in his life. Everyone would respect Ohtani like people respects Kobe.

As a online language teacher, I know how long does it take to master foreign language. Especially for Japanese people to speak English, or English speaking people learning Japanese is not easy. I’m learning English over 30 years. Why some people say to Japanese baseball player to speak English? Playing baseball is not enough for you? I feel it’s too much to ask for him. If you want to understand what he say, why don’t YOU study Japanese. I’m happy to teach you :)

いや世界一になった大谷自身の言葉を直接聞きたいのは当然ですよ　そこに通訳が入る事で大谷の気持ちが全て伝わらない事もあるかもしれないし　俺は簡単でも良いから大谷にスピーチの最後は英語で話してほしいとずっと思っている　野球、サッカー以外の海外で活躍している日本のプロスポーツ選手は殆ど英語を話すしね　F1ドライバー角田は英語がペラペラですよ（笑）

You clearly don’t understand who this guy is. The guy brings in between 60-80 million a year in revenue MORE than Harper per year. If he plays in the World Series the ratings in Japan will be around 70 million people. The World Series last October had 10 million viewers worldwide . He will pay off his own contract by himself by year 6.
