@@TheStylishChefCheeseI do see it that way. I also listen to both Shaq & Kobe on Phil's approaches. Both have spoken highly about him with good reason. Kobe once shared in an interview about what a great mind Phil was. Shaq went down with an injury, and Phil asked Kobe to pick up the slack. So Kobe did. When Shaq healed up and returned, Kobe was still going full on, and it was disrupting team chemistry. Phil asked Kobe to dial it back. Kobe said why? Phil replied because if you keep going like you're going, I'm going to lose Shaq. He's going to lose interest and focus, and we are going to need him for the playoffs. Dial it back now, so we have the big fella clicking on all cylinders come playoff time. Kobe was like 🤯 holy shit, you're right. So he dialed it back, and big fella smoothly transitioned back into the lineup. He mentioned how Phil had a vision and mind for the little things, and how smart he was. I also don't know if I could agree that Phil used Kobe as a scapegoat. Those couple of years after Shaq left, Kobe was just a bad teammate and player to be around in general. He pushed everyone away (acknowledged by himself), and the lakers were pretty bad. It took Phil coming back, and Kobe dialing it back again, for him to win 2 more.

@@LynxStarAuto it took the lakers to get any kind of servicable player to put next to Kobe for them to get it together. Phil never did anything without the 2 best shooting guards in the history of the game. Did he save the day when they were falling apart to detroit? Nah, cause hes not on the court. Zen master tho, oooh... the triangle has never done anything, anywhere without Kobe or MJ. Doc Rivers won a chip. If that doesnt tell you how little it takes from a coach, I dunno what will. How bout Monty Williams in detroit. Goes from viewed as one of the best on a championship contender to "should he even be a coach" in less than a year. Smarten up, son.

Example: If kobe brings the ball up the court, decides to keep the ball, and Jacks up a shot..vs Wade bringing the ball up the court, decides pass the ball to the left or right..to start the ball movement..tell me..who was awarded an assist?..neither of them! The triangle offense is an equal opportunity offense..IF.. everyone buys into it 100%. In other words, a player (kobe) can still choose to keep the ball, allowing the defense to reset and attempt to force his offense.. When he could have easily just ran the offense all the way through. Resulting in another professional getting the ball in an easier position. You bring up (stats) assist numbers when stats are just a SUMMARY.. of the game, the season, the playoffs, of a player's career. Do you open a book, read the summary, then claim to know the book?..no! You just insulted yourself by bringing up assist numbers. Man I'm tired of everyone talking 💩 about shaq, This Brother took so many Beatings on his body that it was crazy, from his LSU Days to the NBA, There is no doubt kobe was a Beast but Shaq didn't want to be in a gym like that, kobe had to do the stuff he did because he wasn't the Biggest, fastest, strongest ETC. SHAQ Still DOMINATED, The brother was a DAMN ATHLETIC GIANT AMONGEST BOYS, Everyone is different people, So When you guys sit up here and glorify Kobe, YOU NEED TO PULL UP THE TAPES ON BIG FELLOW & MAYBE THEN IT WILL MAKE YOU LOOK AT THIS FROM A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE!!! ✌🏿

Watched them both, Whole careers. Shaq was in shape when he played for LSU, Let's not forget about Chris Jackson and Stanley Roberts. As a superstar athlete, when a team is paying you 180 million over six years you should be in shape. Kobe did what a professional does, work hard and perfect his game. That's what a elite professional athlete is supposed to do, not sit around and eat without a care. Sounds like you're trying to shame Kobe for working hard. It's the NBA, not the court in the hood.

@@c.antoniojohnson7114 You really took my comment totally wrong Big Guy, Nor did I ever bash Kobe, Kobe never took the kinds beating Shaq did, Shaq rested his body as much as possible when he wasn't on the court and he still delivered, Now do you really think they couldn't have won several more championships together had Kobe not kept his mouth shut, I Think they still would have won & for Kobe to go on tv and say he should have paid off the chick and cover it up like Shaq does was TOTAL DISRESPECTFUL & I BE DAMN IF I WOULD WANT TO STILL PLAY ALONGSIDE THAT BULL💩 EITHER... ✌🏿 MY BROTHER.... Kobe and Jordan is like you gonna have to earn my respect to get this ball thats not being selfish thats being smart so therefore you won't have a J.R. Smith moment again lol why would Jordan and Kobe keep passing the ball to their team mates when its time to close a game you putting too much pressure on them Lebron does that a lot to protect his stats and to say you see it was my team mate that fuc... up not me and that my friend is being selfish just in reverse Shaq won 1 without Kobe with no fmvp Kobe won 2 without Shaq and 2 mvps look like Shaq was giving them finals mvp because he was the veteran with the better look but Kobe game was better than Shaq Kobe can shoot threes, free throws, and was a better closer than Shaq and more focus Shaq can thank Kobe for them MVPs. Shaq of course win them mvps in that easy a.. finals game but who balled out everytime on the road to the finals yeah Kobe even when there toughest competition was on the West so them mvps don't really count Shaq couldn't do nothing to Duncan while Kobe was cooking Duncan ok so when the finals came Kobe sit back a little after he poured his heart out on the court in them tough a..
