Explore the island beyond its fishing reputation, to see horses and cattle roaming the streets, black sand beaches, spectacular pink sunrises, and a snow scattered landscape of grassy valleys and rocky mountains.
No vlogging, no talking... just pure Kodiak! Edited to chill music at a slow pace. So relax!
All footage was shot in March of 2023 within the Kodiak Island Borough of Alaska, The United States of America.

The horses of course. And the ocean. And the ever-present sound of the wind. …oh! The hairy coo (as the Scott’s would say) in the beginning. Would loved to have seen some June vid as well, esp the wildflowers at that lovely hike at Abercrombie! Family still there so I take the jet or the ferry many times each year to visit and fish and go on adventures. Thanks for the lovely video!

Spiridon bay, west side! I called it Jurassic park! The landscape in summer, color looked so raw, something you would expect to see thousands of years ago! Unreal!😉👍

some objective differences: Valdez is tucked way back at the head of a fjord, sheltered from the mass of Prince William Sound. On the road system, lots of snow, more surrounded by glaciers. Kodiak is on a huge island regularly accessible by flight from Anchorage or ferry from Homer. Exposed to the gnar of the Gulf of Alaska. About a hundred miles of road. Great beaches. @@dk1828

Most don’t get out of kodiak town! The west side bays by floatplane or boat are a whole different world!😉
