As in, a TCG named "Flawed". This is the latest TCG to try to make use of clear plastic cards, but it does so in a different way than the other games we have seen so far.

@@kagemushashien8394 Thanks for your comment! This is a question we get at least once at every event. The issue with sleeves is, if the sleeve breaks or is damaged, now you can’t play the game. This is why we chose to go with clear cards, and players can use any standard sized sleeve they want!

@@flawedcardgame4580 Ah I see, I also wondered that too, also, I got a question for y'all, are you patenting the Clear Card In Sleeve Upgrade mechanic? Cause I would like to use something like that but a little twist in my TCG I'm making, it will give an edge of uniqueness to the game, I'm gathering all sorts of ideas and mechanics and coming up with new ones too to make a new TCG that is fun and in depth, what I'm saying is can I use that type of mechanic in my game? It will most likely be a special type of troop/creature/monster, you basic attacker but it's not the same as the normal, mabey I can use that clear card mechanic in some way or form that it would be different, not the same so I don't directly mirror you, this mechanic is really cool and I would like to explore what I can do with it, mabey not upgrade stats but to LVL up troops like an RPG. I would get why you would patent it if you are doing so. It's a new spin in the market and what I heard your game is blowing up somewhere, I get why because it's something new, a bit of fresh air. Also I tried looking up your TCG on KZfaq, either you guys are very New or you chose one heck of a name because what I'm getting is what is wrong with TCGs and failed TCGs, it's funny.

I think the clear cards could stand to be a little more visually distinctive. My reasoning for this is that generally once you're familiar enough with a game, you can start to know what a card is just by looking at its art. I would hate to misread the game state because I thought that a different clear card was on top of a base card

I think what makes me like the way this game works, and what makes it interesting, is the fact that it does not go against what most card games already go for. You still sleeve your cards, you just sleeve a cardboard one and a plastic one together. Cards still have uniform backs, and it gives a very big ammount of customization on deckbuilding without being much of a hustle (the most being having a normal deck being the size of a commander deck).

Flawed sounds like a really interesting game. The ability to customize your cards like that seems very cool. The one thing I can see it potentially running into is newer players getting hit with decision paralysis when trying to figure out which cards to combine while deckbuilding. I could see the merits in having the starter decks come with the cards in a suggested order, so like the top clear card is meant to go with the top paper card. That way a new player can just sleeve up and play their first game, without needing to dive into deckbuilding right away.

I'm gonna go against the grain and say I don't like the 'Clear cards are more like LCGs/Aren't in random boosters' aspect. I always love the draft and sealed portion of card games more than constructed play, and drafting together a combo that just works is always a great feeling. If needed, the game could be set up so you draft two cards(one cardboard and one clear) at a time, or set aside the clear cards till you've drafted all the cardboard cards so everyone gets the same amount of paper and plastic for example.

I actually had an idea kinda like this, a game where you play as a cartoon/pulp mad scientist sort and splice your minion cards with different "mutations" that gave them things like "crab claws", and each card usually had different effects tied to different bodyparts, like a thug usually just had a "gun" as his "arm effect", so if you gave him "crab claws" he would lose his gun, but if you gave him "ostrich legs", then he'd have his gun and also super speed. And I hadn't considered translucid cards and rather than adding them in deckbuilding, I imagined your "mutations" would be going in your "Research deck", which was a bit like YGO's Extra Deck mixed with magic's Commander zone, but honestly I think that would make putting the "mutations" in translucid/plastic cards more tolerable, since you'd never have to shuffle them into the main deck, where someone could predict where in the deck the "stacked" card is based on weight and "hardness" of the sleeved card (I imagine you can, since "blinging" your key cards in YGO and MtG is a thing cheaters do, and that is just very thin foil that can still be felt easily by experienced hands).

Is there going to be an issue with fitting a plastic card and a cardboard card into the same sleeve? Like, you'd need to either print thinner cardboard cards, which would be expensive/nonstandard, or you'd need to have players cram both a standard-thickness cardboard card and your plastic card into a sleeve designed to snugly fit only the former.

Excellent question! We have printed two demo decks through our final manufacturer. Both the clear cards and cardboard cards are a standard thickness. Thankfully, we did not have to compromise on quality with this project! One clear card and one cardboard card can easily fit together in a standard size sleeve. We have used Dragon Shield, Ultrapro, and Katana sleeves without any issues. We have also tested perfect fitting the two cards together AND sleeving in a standard sleeve, and there are no issues with the fit! Perfect fits actually help the essences line up very nice and prevent shifting within the over sleeve. So long as you aren't using clear over sleeves though, you don't have to perfect fit, but you can if you want to!

Interesting gimmick, but I don't know if the benefit of this stacking mechanism can outweigh the obvious flaws. In theory you have unlimited possibilities: 10 cards x 10 essences = 100 combinations. However, for every card there are probably only 2-3 good combinations, so it might have been a better way to just print 3 variants of each card. Or maybe even more, because I am assuming that 1 plastic card probably costs as much as 5 cardboard cards. And with these variations you could definitely sell more boosters and get a second market going
@roseboatman693
@roseboatman693 Жыл бұрын
Ive played the game, there are many more combinations than that. The clear cards are both to customize how the card plays, but it’s also the mana base. There are 6 colors, so 6 “basic lands” and 6 “infused basics” which provide that color’s trope (eg infused fire gives +1 power, infused earth gives Surge 1). So almost all the 140 base cards have at least 12 “basic lands” to choose from. Then from there you have dual lands in every combination, and “non basic lands” that provide more unique customization to how the card plays. There are 140 cardboard cards and 80 essences. I’d argue that each card has at least 12 viable essence options just from a mana fixing stand point, not even considering what the essence adds for card abilities. Very quickly you have too many viable combinations to warrant simply printing all the versions. I think it would be super annoying trying to open one of 12+ different versions of a card from a booster pack.

There is no spell speed 4 in the rulebook. There are no card types that are "spell speed 4". the spell cards that can not be chained to can NOT be activated in response to a counter trap (spell speed 3). The game profile commented somewhere on here a response to this. Besides what’s already mentioned in the video, the game is also named for the 6 factions F-fire L-light A-air W-water E-earth D-dark

@@maryboatman2258 Sounds like the correct way to refer to and call the game then would be F.L.A.W.E.D.

Yeah, when I saw "the flawed tcg" I thought it was mocking Redakai or something.

Yugioh has 3 spell speeds, unless you truly want to consider cards that cannot be responded to as its own spell speed.

i dont really like mandatory sleeving of the cards. if you have to use outside products to make the deck functional, that doesn’t feel right to me. the creativity the system allows is neat, but i just dont like how the sleeving works. it feels weird when magic has cards that mandate it, and it feels weird here.

like, maybe if it comes with sleeves as standard, that blow would be lessened, but still not perfect to me.

I kind of hate the name. As a foreigner I can't pronounce it easily, unlike Magic or Yugioh or whatever.

Appreciate the feedback. Maybe this can get you on board with the name: the 6 factions of Flawed are Fire Light Air Water Earth Dark F-L-A-W-E-D 😮

@@flawedcardgame4580 HaHa, that was a good idea too! Having that deep of a lore is what sells a good game, gives it the feeling of putting a puzzle in the right place and it just slips in nice and neatly. Although I'm still figuring out my game's name, it's bouncing around with many names, D'realmora, Meldamora, the only names that fit in my game for it, what they mean is up to interpretation, Meldamora is the name of the anime and the card game there delays a great war, Melda in some sort of language mean Global War, and Mora means Delay for a word, D'realmora just has the name of the place the TCG is from in the lore, The D'realm, still figuring about the Mora part there though. But Meldamora also is how the game is played, you Meld a deck, still figuring out the Mora though, not sure what Amora means. And instead of a few colours like 5 or 6 I got the 8, the 7 colours of the rainbow: Red-Earth Orange-Flame Yellow-Light Green-Ruach/Air and Life Blue-Aqua Indigo-Night Violet-Plasma And 1 that is basically all of them combined, it represents all of them: White-White Light In science white light is the combination of all the colours.

I'm curious about what's your native language and why is "flawed" difficult to pronounce (or more difficult than "Magic").
@VieneLea
@VieneLea Жыл бұрын
@@fernandobanda5734 The main thing is that english speakers have chosen for some reason avoid representing sounds with letters well. "Magic" has 5 letters and your mouth has to make 5 sounds which aren't necessarily obvious and you might never get them perfectly but are somewhat easy to learn. "Flawed" reads like "flood", but kinda different, I think? Like maybe W is silent (?), and E is as well, and you pronounce A like you would O? It's just so random and confusing. (Also, it's polish).

Reality check for everyone. They could just print all these combinations of cards on paper. The clear plastic part is a pointless gimmick that does literally nothing.

Considering set 1 has just shy of 7,000 possible combinations, that seems like a hefty undertaking. Most TCGs only print around 200 unique cards per set.
