Hi Art Family! Let's paint some wonderfully colorful and textured koi fishes in acrylic.

I have a special surprise for you today- we are going on a fieldtrip to Kloubec Koi Fish Farm in Amana, Iowa. Come along with me to get inspired and learn about koi!

Oh Dena, i just love this so much! The painting is so beautiful, and always so delightful to watch your process. Your back yard is an absolute Dream! The inspiration for painting is endless, but more than that, what a glorious home and such a peaceful place to enjoy daily. And then, the koi farm was incredible! Ive never seen so many koi in one spot before! The ones you chose to take home are beautiful, and i hope they'll make it.. nature can be tough.. but eagles and turtles all need to eat too, I suppose. Its just hard when they choose to eat creatures we're connected to and love.. anyway, thank you so very much for this, it was peaceful and beautiful and a joy to watch! Hugs to you ! 🥰🖌️🎨

This was a really cool video! I love how you filmed the painting process. It was so mesmerizing and relaxing! OMGOOOSSH!! I loooved the field trip!!! That was so much fun! Hello, Dena! What an awesome video! Your painting is beautiful; really great plays with colors and of course the texture fits perfectly like the scales on a fish. I enjoyed seeing the Koi farm. I was amazed by how large it is and how many fish tanks full of fish they have beautiful choices by the way and absolutely love the new place they are going to be living. Your pond is beautiful. When you do this do you paint what you want to see and then do daubism? Or do you just go straight into using the spoon?

Hi Bck! Excellent question- I start with a underpainting of basically where everything should go as far as colors, objects and the overall light and dark scheme. Once that dries, I go in with daubism, sometimes using the same color as the underpainting, and sometimes using a very different color to make a visual pattern. Take care Bck
