Japanese, like Spanish, pronounces each vowel the same every time (some subtle exceptions), and rhythmically each vowel gets a beat. So O long O Oh, I is as if a long E weeee, A as short a ah(ah-ha); (U is short u ewww, E is long A ayyyy(fonz) or eh(Canada).) So Koiai (which has no W, so not like Kawai) is 4 syllables, “Co E ahh E” 🤘

@@timgove5337 I understand all of these things. The word you are comparing with is not "kawai" but "kawaii". Kawaii has an extra long e sound at the end which koiai does not have. Both words have four "mora" (four syllables or beats), but the "ai" in koiai is only two of them, whereas the "waii" in kawaii is three.

@@kicorse yes. That was mostly for Andrew’s sake tho 😉he was saying something like kowaii, which is closer to scary (kowai) than Indigo. Kowai and Kawai are 3. And Kanade of course is from both 'Muses' and 'Ear candy jazz factory', so she has fusion/jazz background (but 'Muses' also at first played some heavy tunes) Bass player is Wakazaemon, I've read she mostly slaps so not my favorite for the job then. Isn't there anybody in Japan that can play proper bass - for crying out loud? :/ I agree that this great track (it's both very interesting in its drama and quite a showcase of talents) should/could be longer but even as it is, it's quite an epic. Only minus is that the very first bars sound too much like 'Acid rain' by Liquid Tension Experiment.

First seen Waka(bassist) from Cottelee the cover band of Maximum the Hormone I believe. Pretty sure that's her if I'm not wrong.

@@marklar9156 cool that you noticed the LTE sound. I saw someone play them back to back, the LTE is practically slow/tame next to this one Waka’s not a slapper. I’m a bassist, and don’t prefer slapping either. You might be thinking of Friedman’s previous bassist Kiyoshi, slap specialist. But she, and others (band maid, waka, Gacharic Spin/Doll$Boxx, many more) are full on bassists who just like that slappy sound🤷‍♂️
