Yeah you learn pretty quickly that all animals need food and water to survive. I was 8 when my parents got a puppy, and she wasn’t specifically for me, she was the family dog, but my parents wanted to teach me how to take on responsibilities, while still knowing I’m just a dumb kid. I knew from day dot that you have to do a lot of stuff to keep an animal like a dog alive and happy. Idk, maybe it’s because I was always obsessed with animals, and learning about them, that I caught on really fast about at least the basics. I always wanted a snake the most, but my mom is terrified of them so I never had one, but I knew even back then about everything from heating lamps, mice as food, water, substrate, and places in the enclosure that the snake can comfortably hide away in. I don’t understand being 7 and not having any clue. 14 of them??? HOW do you not learn that something’s not right? Unless you’re a psychopath who doesn’t care about the fact they’re all dying 😬 “Oh well, guess I’ll just go get another. Haha what fun!” 😳

I built it a home in the garage and gave it food and water every day. Obviously, a 6-year-old can't properly take care of a toad, and it died after a couple weeks. I ended up feeling so guilty about it and told my dad and we had a small funeral. I should have not taken the toad in, but being 6 or so, I learned my lesson the hard way. That wedding tape story is a perfect example of why we should always fess up when we've done something a little stupid. I'm sure the parents would've been mad at the time, obviously, but they would get over it; perhaps even renew their vows sooner, and recreate the dances they looked forward to. Instead, OP said nothing until it was already much, much too late. It's almost worse than lying right away. I know they feel awful for what they had done, but it wouldn't have been so bad if they said something right away. As the saying goes, "Making mistakes doesn't make you a failure; it's how you handle them."

Its wild that he never watched it again wasting it, people were suggesting wacky movie plots, a grown man is trying to hide and not take responsibility and the parents poor opsec. Besides color footage in the 1940s it's always been relatively easy and cheap to copy media. Like did everyone in that family think nature didn't magically exist inside a wooden and sand box so nobody made copies sent off to different locations for safeguarding in case of a fire or flood or something. I image it mattered more to exist then a hour of time and a few hours of capital to copy. Better to be responsible and get stuff done incase guess like parents like children.

regarding the rabbit story: i find it believable based on a story of my (or really, my mum's) own. my mum's mum (i refuse to call her nana or grandma for reasons beyond this story) lived rurally with ducks, rabbits, dogs, cats, geese, horses etc on a farm when my mum was growing up. when my mum was 10, she got in a bad car accident that sent her from the backseat of a truck (an old truck with those lap seatbelts during a time that seatbelts weren't taken seriously) to the windshield. she was severely injured and hospitalized for a long time, and has been epileptic ever since. cut to my mum being able to go home, however because she was still recovering she wasn't able to go back to school yet, so she spent most of her days for several months with the animals on the farm, including the rabbits. one day she went to the bunny hutch as usual to hang out with the rabbits, when she sees her mum having just slaughtered what was one of her friends. her mum turns around, sees her standing there in abject horror, holds up the foot of the rabbit she just maimed and says, "lucky rabbit's foot?" while laughing. my mum burst into tears (not something she often did in the presence of her parents) and to this day this story is one of the many sources of trauma for her. unfortunately for us, though, karma hasn't gotten her, and she continues to be, well...a raging bitch. but i guess the karma is that no one in her family talks to her anymore. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I know its a meme to roast Cody so please excuse my sincere comment for a sec, but Cody is one of the most genuinely empathetic people I have seen in my life. Watching him tear up at the confession about the wedding video was honestly really refreshing. I'm a guy who tears up a lot at really sentimental, heartwarming stuff and, although I generally feel perfectly secure about that trait, it bums me out to live in a world where other people have tried to make me feel insecure about experiencing (and encouraged me to mask) visible signs of emotional vulnerability. Its reassuring to see other guys casually express an emotional response without trying to suppress it or drawing attention to it in a self deprecating way; just letting the physical reaction occur, moving through it in a healthy way, and continuing forward because it is genuinely not a big deal. Ok back to roasting: it's rather progressive for a guy his age.
@luGnar5 ай бұрын
absolutely, patriarchal standards harm men too, and it's important to have safe spaces for vulnerability for Everyone! i appreciate Cody not shying from expressing emotions as well, whether it's in reaction to things like this or simply telling his fans he's struggling from time to time, it's good not to always keep the mask up. i ofc don't know or pretend to know Cody personally, but in a goofy little way i feel like i've kinda matured alongside him, having watched his videos since the vine days - i'm 27 now. anyway, all this to say i agree and i hope you find your people, man ✌️ they're out there

Ong bro, us guys are humans too and we have plenty of emotions which shouldn't be bottled up. Other guys experience them too, they just pretend they don't. Honestly, living life like that seems exhausting and kinda boring. I'd rather just be me and if anyone judges me for that then I don't want them in my life.

The Rabbit story is very similar to something my mom experienced. She had a pet rabbit that her dad had got her, and one day she comes home and there are “chicken wings” in the microwave. She eats them, and then her dad tells her that she had eaten her bunny. He bought them with the intention to eat them eventually, but just never told my mom.

my best friend was in ffa and got to raise a pig. although a school program, she still had to pay for the animal and its needs. she named it, cared for it as her own, and watched him grow. she knew at the end of the year she would have to sell it for a profit, as that’s what her parents condition was for paying for the pig. unfortunately, when it came time to sell the pig, the highest bidder was her grandma, who proceeded to get it butchered and fed it to her family, including the 16 year old who raised it, for christmas dinner. this exact situation happened the following year. she was even closer with the new pig. she couldn’t eat him that time around.

8:45 Unfortunately…that could very well be true…😬 Something similar happened to my mom when she was a child. Her family raised a rabbits for food, but my mom took care of them and really liked them, so she would refuse to eat them. She became particularly attached to one of the rabbits. One day she was handed a plate at dinner time and told the meat was something else (beef or something-I don’t recall). As you can probably guess, it wasn’t just any rabbit, but specifically the rabbit she had bonded with. After she ate some of it, her parents immediately told her it was her beloved rabbit that she was eating and really rubbed it in her face. She was traumatized by that event and to this day will not eat rabbit. (For context: my maternal grandparents were *extremely* abusive to their children-my grandfather eventually improved and apologized…my grandmother is still an evil person who intentionally harms people-especially liking to torment my mother-so I/my siblings/mother have cut her out of our lives)
@user-xd7dt6gr8l5 ай бұрын
I have one similar to the rabbit story but actually real. This happened to some relative of mine like a great uncle or something (it was passed to me from my mom, I have so many great uncles/aunts and distant cousins). As a boy he had a pet pig, and as you may know these things are like super emotionally intelligent and he became very closely bonded with the pig, it would see him off to school and also knew about when he was gonna return and waited at the bus stop. They are like as intelligent if not more than a dog this pig was his best friend. However, this was in rural (and I mean RURAL) Pennsylvania, where anything that wasn't a dog or a cat was food. Generally blue collar families that didn't have much money to spare. One day he comes to dinner and there's a cooked ham (I'm not sure whether he already knew it was his pig), he was at the table in distress while they ate, and his family was giggling and making oinking sounds. Given how well preserved this story is in the family, I don't think he ever forgave them for that.

A very famous comedian in our country has a legendary christmas song called 'Flappie' from the 1980's. It's about the dad cooking the kids rabbit for christmas dinner and laughing about it. Next day the mom can't find the dad.... the kid told her that she would have a very nice dinner that night.
