The video presents speed tests of Polish Pendolino. The Alstom Ferroviaria ETR610 train had to reach 275 km/h, needed to get an approval for 250 km/h (155 mph) in regular operation. However, PKP Intercity has decided to test capabilities of the vehicle even further.
These shots were taken on 23th November 2013. On that day, they have reached 291 km/h (a few kilometers before our spot, we measured 281 with a radar in that ride). The next day, the ED250 set the record at 293 km/h (182 mph).
The records beaten during these tests: the highest speed in the history of Pendolino trains in the world, fastest train in Central and Eastern Europe (previous one: Russian Siemens Velaro "Sapsan" in 2009 - 290 kph).
It is important to note that it was achieved while using 3 kV DC power supply.
