Croatia was no joke entry. Let 3 is a punk band, performing since the 80's, protesting regimes and are very vocal for equal rights and the LGBTQ+ Community. This song was making fun of Putin and the president of Belarus, without mentioning them even once. (also "Traktor" clearly adressing the Ukraine ;) )

In my personal top was Finland Croatia Austria Slovenia and Norway, but I’m sad that France got so low, and also Germany. Not everyone can be pleased but I still think that Käärijä having over 100 points more than Loreen from public voting is something, he was definitely peoples favorite. Ofc not everyone must have liked him, just looking generally at this, he got 12 points from 18 countries from televoting, while Sweden got from none. I’m just sad he lost, Loreens song was also good, but the fact that she already won is so bitter

What gets me is yes Finland's act looks funny but if you dig even slightly below the surface, you realise how fucking insane and well-crafted it is. It looks so simple on the surface but it's not. The dancers alone?? They're actually all professional ballroom dancers. In interviews with them, one gave insight into how freaking difficult it was to cast the dancers; they needed to be professional ballroom dancers who do it for a living, but they also needed to be the absolutely best of the best to do ballroom dancing at a completely different and unnatural rhythm (pay attention to the song and the cues they use to move - that's crazy) and needed to master the rules completely and feel comfortable in their ability to break them deliberately. It's like being told you need to speak your native language in a whole new accent and you can't mess up. So they literally had to relearn ballroom dance from scratch to a new beat. That is not easy, especially when you've been dancing to a specific, structured and natural rhythm for your entire life. Käärijä was also literally running and shaking violently while STILL maintaining vocal consistency and projection in his voice. That takes practice and a lot of hard work. Most people at that intensity can only do one or the other. Try to even do more than a whisper while running and jumping - now imagine accurately hitting notes and projecting your voice while doing it. The choreography itself especially with the set design - the dancers dance ballroom until they remove their leashes and go funky. I love it. The facial training it took to constantly maintain the crazy face? Not easy. Try to smile hard for a few seconds too long and feel how your cheeks genuinely start to burn. I love the caricature of ballroom as well with their traditional outfits but gleaming fake teeth and extra dark tans. Anyways, I wrote a whole novel, but that's how upset I am about Finland's loss. Käärijä is our winner, down here in Australia ❤

There is an explanation for the Estonia piano with Alika. It's not that Alika got that piano to be like "ESTONIAAAA This is estonia's entry got it???", it's that the piano is from a expensive handmade brand that happens to be named "Estonia" (as is the big theatre named "Estonia"). These pianos are oftentimes sold to the USA and Canada in fact. So it's rather she's showing off having an expensive high quality piano.

I'm English and think our placing down near the bottom was earned. Mae seemed to have a problem singing live this week, and she was so nervous about moving around the stage (she'd sounded scared about walking the stairs in heels whilst singing in a interview clip, and it showed on the night). I think the UK would have placed much higher with the same song but a better performance/more memorable staging. Germany and Spain definitely deserved higher placing than they received, and I'm shocked their public votes were so low. I really hope we move away from the "Big 5" getting automatic placings in the final: if Blanco Paloma was so unpopular with the audience, possibly Georgia (Iru, Echo) could have had a place in the grand final.

Just so you know, chief, "Estonia" are a local bunch of piano crafters. To have an 'Estonia' piano means that you're either old enough to have acquired one when you were still poor and Soviet, or are filthy rich and free. And if one of those ends up in an antique shop, even when its strings are ripped to shreds, its pedals messed up and its wood rotting, people will enter a fist fight to snag it up and get it restored, because they are -good- excellent pianos.

Reminder for all: Loreen deserved her win, but by all means the jury vote system is flawed and Käärija was the public's top choice by a large margin. We do not have the right to claim she didn't deserve her win, but there is room to criticize the jury votes as time and time again we see that yes they are biased.
