Don't use insults like "garbage". If I understand that right -maybe I am wrong, I am not an expert -Lee thinks that because assembly theory can be done without a touring machine that is new. That's more likely makes it to simple and outdated because anything in this area that is simple enough to be done by hand has been propably already done. Furthermore I fear that by saying "it can be done without a computer" Lee thinks that it is NOT a form of computation and that makes it new. But anything that follows rules is a form of computation, including computing by hand, and in that wider sense the universe can be called a computer. And if evolution is realy only cause by the natural laws of that universe one could say the universe is computing evolution. That does not sound particular new too. When estimating the length of phylogenetic trees similar methods are used. If Lee would have said "I wanted to make a simplified summary of what others are doing" he would not have received such a massive critique.
