This was my first attempt, and I definitely came unprepared. Doesn't help that I accidentally switched styles with Kiryu at the end, causing me to sustain unnecessary damage.

Man, every time I hear that sound effect at 00:20 it hit my feels for some reason. spoilers: I genuinely wanted this to be Kiryu's actual last game, I wanted a good proper goodbye with older characters. Not where he just sees them and thats it. I want him to interact with them, with Haruka. I was genuinely disappointed when they barely did that, and still kept Kiryu alive after all that

I think RGG Studios is worried that if they actually take out Kiryu permanently, old fans will be furious and future LAD games won't have sales as good. I personally think Kiryu should have had a good heart to heart with everyone on his bucket list, before finally bowing out permanently.

Komaki respecting Kiryu's anonymity but fully admitting Kiryu was his best pupil had me in tears. There's no bond that compares to that of a master and his pupil. Komaki was almost a much a dad to Kiryu as Kazama was.

Komaki must be a walking fossil. He already looked 40 years older than Kiryu even way back in Y1. He's probably a hundred years old by Y8.😅

@deepflare1028 yeah. I actually find Kiryu's bucket part in Y8 weak. Like not even telling Sayama that Kiryu's alive. I mean c'mon the woman's been freakin' waiting for years...also that Tatara channel thing really blowed the cover of Kiryu, and Kiryu with just a differwnt hairstyle got people confuse him is just another way of lazy writing. Wish they could've let him talk to some of the characters.alongside our boy Akiyama And also in the main story, like what was Kiryu smoking when making him the future carrier of the Yakuza underworld? Like c'mon he literally forces people to work and do favour for him lmao. C'mon have he not get his lessons from making Tereda the chairman of Tojo just bcz he cared abt Kazama? Mannn

Was quite glad to see Komaki use the OG dragon style. I like that they made his standard fight style the OG dragon while his extreme heat mode is the new dragon engine style. Kinda wish they applied that to kiryu in his past dragon engine appearances.

I do hope that they have some old trainers or their descendants reappear in later games in the Ichiban saga to teach him new techniques like Asakura did in this game. Imagine someone like Tatsu’s granddaughter or Kosuke Komaki giving lessons to Ichiban for different jobs. There’s even some good fits already - the Areshi brothers were famous for kickstarting breakdancing in Osaka, so we’ve got Breaker already, and even other party members could unlock exclusive special moves from masters, like Zhao being able to learn special Chef skills from Bond levels or meeting new NPCs. I think proper masters are the only thing Ichiban’s progress is still missing compared to Kiryu’s growth, and I think they would go a long way in both helping to develop the party’s move sets and the individual members as characters. Imagine Adachi getting mentored by Saejima or Date and learning a new Essence move or something late into an adventure to help rescue Ichiban during a big story climax as the party desperately looks for training to help prepare them. Traveling across Japan to meet old and new allies to get that final edge and reunite with the guy who brought everyone together. Hell, I could even see someone like Eri making a cameo to teach new Kunoichi skills since her old Clerk style was a sort of prototype for it. I think Ichiban and the rest of the party getting some proper one-on-one training with people who have developed uniquely powerful techniques that mesh into their different jobs would be a great way to develop their different personalities and moves. The different masters always end up being really cool characters too, so I would love to see both successors to old ones and new stars teach some cool moves to the Yokohomies.

Komaki was already old when Kiryu was 20 and it's still Kyriu going out before him. At this rate he's probably gonna outlive Ichiban and his crew too 😂😂

We will known that by the next future, many it could be possible if we had a forgotten character from SEGA. The protagonist of delinquent that became the champion of Dragon Heat, which is Tatsuya Ukyo. If SEGA announced the Kurohyou game, i believe Tatsuya will be the student of Kiryu cause every move what Kiryu from the past. Agree or not, im hype up if SEGA was really going to do it.

The life link is actually the final send-off to Kiryu's old life as his death approaches. Considering the star of the show is Kiryu and Ichiban so the game literally is the passing of the torch between two dragons. However the way I see it, might be the final of the series too since Kiryu is retired permanently and Ichiban wanted to live a normal life.

The story can be a bit iffy at times in Infinite Wealth but man, these life link moments with Kiryu's old friends are some of the highlights of the entire series. Nearly every single one were so incredibly nostalgic and emotional. This one, Kashiwagi, and Nakajima especially being my favorites.

if anything, as the main character who starts the franchise, in case rgg finally want to make a 'thanks for all this time until now and goodbye FR permanently', just make it classic good ol brawler gameplay. Ichi and friends can continue in rpg style as long as they want for all i care

Can anyone help? So I went here too early and also had Kiryu in some random job, 5 levels below Komaki..I got stomped. I reloaded instead of trying again. Now I'm in Chapter 10 and the icon is completely gone and it won't trigger. I'd rather fight him now before I'm over-leveled but it seems like somehow I fucked up and missed my chance? Anyone else run into this?

It seems to be a remix of either werewolf-tired or Rosenfeld-cleffs from my Google song search. Sounds the exact same, but Sega probably touched it up a bit. I also wouldn't be surprised if it's a non-copyright music sample that alot of people use to make crappy remixes to sing over to which makes finding the original sample that much harder.

They should’ve made Kiryu’s combat like Gaiden. Having him fight in turn based combat with a party doesn’t fit him. Also it feels strange to hear Komaki speaking full sentences after multiple games of hearing only grunts from him.

Some guy made a mod which turns Yakuza LAD to a beat-em-up. Apparently they also made a version for Infinite Wealth but there's no confirmation if it's gonna go beyond a proof of concept

Probably hard to stuff another gameplay loop with its own progression system, skills and levels, and create a way to somehow transition between both gameplay loops seamlessly while transferring skills and levels from both loops without something huge breaking. But sure. Let's just curse the devs for not making it like a previous game we like and leave it to modders to fix what ain't broke.

It's unfortunate that you say so, but I get why it's not peoples thing. Funny enough, if the series didnt switch to turn based, I would've never given the Yakuza series a try. I did warm up to beat m up gameplay with the dragon engine games, and did have fun with Kiwami 2/6/Gaiden. But I prefer turn based
