Leading manufacturer Komatsu had led the way with its sustainable practices, being one of the earliest adopters of Tier 4 compliant machinery. And it is now exploring other alternatives to diesel power, one of them being electric.
Its PC210LCE-11 24-tonne excavator was recently on display at the 2024 Diesel Dirt & Turf expo, and while it looks very much like any other diesel excavator, it is in fact battery powered.
The concept machine is in the country so Komatsu can carry out a series of trials to gauge both its performance and potential market demand.
