Teen charged with murder after fatal shooting of 13-year-old girl at Alderwood mall

Күн бұрынProsecutors filed charges Tuesday afternoon against a teenager who is accused of fatally shooting a 13-year-old girl inside the Alderwood mall in Lynnwood last week.
According to court records, Samuel Gizaw, 16, of Mukilteo, is charged with murder in the first degree, murder in the second degree, assault in the first degree, and unlawful possession of a firearm in the second degree.
The charges are filed in Snohomish County Superior Court. Washington law stipulates that juveniles aged 16 or 17 who are charged with 'serious violent offenses,' which includes murder, are automatically referred to the adult court system.

If you're going to charge children as adults, ie, hold them to adult standards of responsibility, then there is no justification from withholding the privileges of adulthood from children either. They should be able to vote, leave school, join the army, drink, drive a car, get married, carry a gun etc etc. The only reason we withhold those rights from children is that they do not have adult standards of responsibility.

Basically. I don't understand why or how all these young kids have guns. Are their parents buying them? Are the guns being legally purchased or friends giving it to them?? I have never owned a gun in almost 42 years of life as a woman and Army Vet. I do not, for the life of me, understand the cesspool gun culture that is America.

@@nathanjones9860 I heard that. But it’s not 1st degree. The prostitutor really f*cked up that. He went for the hardest punishment and cause she wasn’t the target now he has to prove that he knew her and he planned to kill here. Which means his defense is get that charge thrown out or completely beat. I’ve seen this happened before and the criminal didn’t get punished that harshly. Watch. If they don’t change the charge before the trial than they’re cooked. Tell me how could it be premeditated. She didn’t know him and he didn’t know her. His target was some other dude. So with those facts out, prove me how it’s 1st degree. Al Calpone was never charged for murders cause they kept trying to hit him hard stuff and they couldn’t prove it. He only went to prison cause of tax evasion. A much easier thing to prove. He’ll get charged with 3rd or manslaughter.

I agree with you on that 100% only because I remember being that age in 99.9 percent of us never thought about getting a gun after a fight and the 3 or 5 losers that was known to carry guns end up going to jail at that age for robbery or murder( not even exaggeratin).

We are failing these kids! I remember my parents taught me, how to throw hands. Yeah I was taught how to shoot, though I was taught when to shoot. I was taught how to throw hands too. I was taught how to take and give an ass whupping. I was taught how to fight. I was taught when to fight too, I was taught to stand for those who couldn't stand for themselves. I was also taught to give a damn about others. I'm not perfect by any means though I did my f--king damnedest to be a good man in all walks of my life and I was able to do that because I had good people in my life. These freaking teens are our future hardened criminals because they are troubled and need help to change their crime path. Why does a teen have a gun? This young teen will enter prison to learn from the big boys. He might never change, but something has to be done to help these kids onto another path. Where the hell are the parents of these teens, and why are lawyers defending these parasites and not work with the system to get help for these troubled youths. Instead, these defense attorneys work on bail and releasing them back to society.

And for the mother, the mom of this beautiful 13 year old girl who was taken from her life too soon, I am a father. My kids are over 21, working hard to earn their own, me and their mother are not together anymore though I worry about them everyday. I go into full Papa Bear mode when it comes to my ex-wife & kids, I guess that's why I have an ex-wife & kids. Anyway, I want you to know as a parent, I share your pain. I couldn't imagine losing any one of my cubs. I just hope in some way you can find peace. I wish that so much for parents around the country that have lost their children senselessly. I've just haven't been as long winded. I remember growing up with watergun and water balloon fights, playing karate, wrestling on old thrown away mattresses, drinking out of water hoses, hanging out at arcades, old folks hanging out giving you some wisdom, walking around to the corner store getting a sausage sandwich, two bags of chips and a cold soda. Anyway, I see what these kids go through and it makes me sad because people are more concerned with protecting a nepobaby than their own kids. One of the blessings in life I was given was to be a father, I didn't even think I would make it this far. I did and I wish that many who are no longer of this Earth lived to see me do it. I am, however lucky that there are people who still walk around this 🌎 that got to see me make it this far. I know I'm being long winded, sometimes it's hard for me to get out what I'm trying to say. I guess what I'm trying to say is that your daughter is that angel sitting right there on your shoulder along with the other angels. I wish you so much peace. I wish I knew what I could say to take away your pain. 😢💔🌹
