A ceremony dedicated to the only point and shoot I ever loved. The Konica A4 was released in 1989 and features incredibly simple controls on a sleek compact body making it the ideal pocket camera. I hope one day to recover from this deep feeling of loss. Until then enjoy the video and thanks for watching!

I never thought I would get emo over a camera. Thank you for this. R.I.P.

I'd say I'd love to take a stab at fixing it because it sounds electrical, but I think you're the expert in this department. I'd want to connect a DC power supply to it and see if constant power keeps it alive. Or measure power draw during shooting. Anything can be fixed, we just need more knowledge!

Knowing myself I'll probably take a weekend to tearing into it and tracking down the failure but it being produced in 89 doesn't fill me with much confidence that the electronics are all that salvageable, but we shall see!

Just looking at this Konica, and it looks ready to break.

@@RompingBronco I only have used my Canon Sure Shot and Nikon One Touch. I wouldn’t care if they broke, but they likely now sell for $200 each on eBay.

The whole P&S thing didn't start from Kendall (most ppl couldn't or wouldn't afford a Contax *before* she had one), it started because most P&Ss were dirt cheap or free and nobody wanted them for the most part. So younger shooters started scooping them up and made good results with them and spread it online. That's it. That's all. Now the whole effin landscape of that market is just .... dumb. Egregious, like you say. They're all future bricks - fun and some capable - but all of them. In 2016 I inherited three cameras from my late grandad: a T2, a Rollei 35, and a Konica C35EF. I liked the T2 but didn't love it. Last year I sold it and know that if my grandad knew the prices he'd have called me a dummy if I hadn't. lol The Rollei was his favorite anyhow and it'll work nearly in perpetuity. But of all of them the C35EF had the most effect on my shooting. All that to say, sux when a camera *truly* dies. The earlier, simpler compacts are nearly as small as the P&S crazies, and all of them better in the long run. I'll take an XA over a Mju any day of the week and weekend. I just finished an original C35 - it's teensy and it'll shoot the pants off it's younger brother that just died on your desk. :) And there's hardly anything in it to go genuinely wrong. But you know that. I sold my beloved GR1s four years ago for all these same reasons. Man. That was a book. P&S cams are fun and stupid. :)

I distinctly remember going to thrift stores and picking up a handful of point and shoots for 5-8 dollars and then just gifting them to my friends, this was just a couple years ago and now they have grown exponentially in value even though it is just plastic and poor electronics. Dumb indeed haha Killer inheritance though, as much as I'd love to try a GR1 I think I'll stick to my MX haha I appreciate the book and thanks for watching!

Was a super killer inheritance. Sorta defacto cuz the family knows I'm the one that "does the film cameras thing"... That Konica just sat for months cuz I thought it was plasticy and seemed stupid (zone focus, toy like). It's anything but. Took me down a Konica rabbit hole. But ahhhhhh the MX.... Seems like you've come around quite a bit to it over the ME Super in the past few months then eh? I just posted on you IG. Trying to sort the oldest of my three MXs. Poor lil guy. The MX is "my" camera more than any other.

Pleeeeeaaaaase help me, somebody gifted me one, works fine BUT it doesn‘t load the film. When the back door is opened, when advanving (the takeup spool isn‘t moving) but it makes a motor noise. I have repaired quite some cameras so I want to try to repair this also
