Koningspaar bezoekt historische 'black university'

Koning Willem-Alexander en koningin Máxima gaan op de tweede dag van hun Amerikaanse werkbezoek naar Savannah State University, een Amerikaanse onderwijsinstelling die zich richt op African American studenten en inclusieve academische groei. Het is de eerste zogeheten Historical Black College and University (HBCU) in de staat Georgia, geopend in 1890. Op de universiteit werd het paar ontvangen door interim-president Cynthia Alexander. Op het terrein van de universiteit bekijken zij eerst presentaties van studenten in het Marine Science Center. Vervolgens gingen ze in dialoog met studenten en black entrepreneurs over ondernemerschap en internationale ambities. Parallel aan
het bezoek vindt een AI-conferentie plaats met Nederlandse en Amerikaanse universiteiten. Het bezoek aan de universiteit wordt afgesloten met een cultureel optreden, waarbij Willem-Alexander en Máxima werden uitgedaagd mee te doen.

The King was so very gracious and kind to his hosts. It really warmed my heart. It was wonderful to have the royal couple in New York and now at an HBCU is impressive. He cares about different life experiences and paths of people in the US. Thank you, your Majesty.

Máxima es la reina que deberíamos haber tenido en España, una mujer simpática, accesible; todo lo contrario de Leticia, que es exactamente lo opuesto. Más que reina de los españoles, parece una directora de un banco.
