Superb lessons. It is refreshing to hear your groove. Some teachers tend towards an overquantised feel.

Hi! I am just starting to learn it. Been following your videos from lesson 1. I had a question. When you are counting 'Ta Ki Ta', it's a triplet. If I am putting it in a 4/4 bar, will it be 1[ta] E[ki] &[te] A[ta] 2[ki] E[te] &[ta] A[ki] 3[te] E[ta] &[ki] A[te] 4[ta] E[ki] &[te] A[ta]? Or is 3 per count as 1 (ta ki te) 2(ta ki te) 3(ta ki te) 4(ta ki te)? Please help me understand! Thanks!

In this lesson, each big beat is split into 3, so it feels like 12/8 for Westerners. The first example you gave is splitting each beat into 16ths (4 notes per beat), and then doing a polyrhythm over top. If you wanted the polyrhythm to resolve on beat 1, you've have to start right after the first beat 1 (, ta ki te) 2 (ta ki te ta) 3 (ki te ta ki) 4 (te ta ki te) 1(ta). It'd be good to alternate that with normal takadimi to reestablish the original subdivisions. So, 4 beats of takadimi, then 4 beats of the polyrhythm. His Konnakol Lesson #6 covers this some.
