Holy shit! I was thinking of writing in about this same thing like a month ago! AEW fans and Indy nerds have been villainizing Vince McMahon and WWE for supposedly killing off the territories in the 80s and “poaching” all the top guys. But check this out: at least Vince plucked the top guys and turned them into stars. These guys were able to go back to the indies after their WWF run and still make money because Vince knew how to present them. Tony signed up most of NJPWs top guys as well as all the big Indy names at the time, booked them all horribly and devalued everyone he’s ever signed. So not only did he kill the promotions who’s wrestlers were poached, but he also killed off those same wrestler’s credibility and name value.

I really doubt that AEW ratings will drop below 502K ever again but I would bet my house and my car that Tony Khan will not change a single thing about his show at all.
