I truly hate Tony MarKhan. Not because of his endless failings in pro wrestling. But because he acts, speaks, carries himself as some altruistic, savior. He has NEVER, not for 1 second of his life, went without. The way he speaks and what he says demonstrates, ad nauseum, a person who doesn't deserve what he has been GIFTED, has NO intention of EARNING anything, and DEMANDS unending praise, thanks, and servitude... Because he has taken Daddy money and "sacrificed" FOR YOU, to live out his lavish, undeserved fantasy of booking a national pro wrestling company.... He's doing it for the fans.... There was a MASSIVE wrestling star that tried to steer Tony the right way. That star had negative stories leaked about him to wrestling dirtsheets by executives and he continues to be maligned by them to this day -- even though he is no longer in the company. He should just have the ROH tapings in a small venue (100-200 people) and film 4 weeks of TV in a row. They could always film promos and inserts separately and put them in in post production. Part of the charm of ROH was that it was small and intimate and that they only did bigger venues for their biggest shows. There is no way ROH is profitable as it is so why let it drag down the rest of your product?

It's not surprising everyone walked out. I've been to 4 AEW events and the last one I went to they didn't do any dark matches before Collision. Then they filmed ROH after and it was just real quick 3-5 min squash matches. There was no story to any of it and the talent involved weren't great. It was almost Midnight and they announced there were still 11 matches left. I told my dad that's it we gotta go and we left. It was brutal.

I don't think Tony Kahn has done any actual work. Disco says he has 3 jobs. In reality, his dad bought a soccer team, football team, and wrestling company. Then, appointed his son to positions in all of them. So outside of wrestling, he probably doesn't do much for the other organizations. He has a title in name only because his dad owns the entity. Tony probably goes to meetings and is sent emails to signoff on things. But he probably has nothing to do with day to day operations of those other companies because he doesn't seem to know much about them. He has a lawyer and advisors that do a lot of work for him. This is why he doesn't seem to have an understanding of general business. He's experiencing it solo for the first time with wrestling...

I went to Collision in London Ontario a few weeks ago. The Collision part was great, but the Rampage taping afterwards was brutal. No one wants to watch job matches after the main card. At least two thirds of the crowd cleared out by 1030

Feeney is operating under the assumption that Tony Kahn doesn't think he's smarter and better than all other bookers before him. Every other booker in history needed help or time off because they weren't nearly as good as Kahn, that's why AEW is doing so well.

nothing new tho, I was at a sold out Dynamite 3 years ago and when they started taping for Dark or 1 of the KZfaq shows, more than half of what had been a lively crowd left and the ring announcer Justin was asking and encouraging people to move down to fill in around the ring. I stayed cause I'm hardcore like that and rarely get to see live wrestling, but I mean, people have weekday jobs and other obligations and some travel far for these shows, not everyone is gonna stay. If WWE was still running full house show circuit and taping jabroni matches after a lot of people would leave too.

Rampage and ROH should be held and filmed in smaller venues, give it the indy vibe it desrves, it will also attact more viewers and patrons. Just host it a small venue in the same town your touring with a small production crew. Use your roster and incentavize with special unannounced guests. Could you imagine a small televized indy show crowd reacting to Osprey or Kenny showing up unnaounced.

I went to an Aew dynamite and it was brutal. 1 hour of Rampage before, 2 hours of dynamite, then they want you to stay for RoH after that. Its exhausting and you're just watching the same shit over and over

It's entirely to long for a weekday. When I went they taped ROH, then did Dynamite live, then taped Collision. By the time for collision everyone left and I was struggling to stay awake through it after working a full 8 hours.

I was at the show in Lexington last year and he did it between every TV break it seemed .. asking the crowd to plz stay and support the ring of Honor show and that orange Cassidy was going to be on the show in the main event .. of course a lot of people left nobody wants to sit at a 3+hr show and RoH taping

I have a question for Konnan and Disco and maybe I should email it in so they answer it. They talk about how somebody should talk to Tony and give him advice. Both Konnan and Disco were on a sinking ship in WCW (towards the later years). Did they give advice to Bischoff or Russo or Nash or whoever was doing the booking? Like what were they upto during that time? Did they just show up to work and do their jobs and then go home? Or were the actively giving suggestions on how to improve the ratings/attendances?

From what I have heard, most wrestling shows now run way too long. The show in Queens this past fall started a bit before the listed start time so they could tape a Collision match, then they started taping the rest of Collision after the Dynamite show, and people left in droves. Even a good wrestling show gets to be a grind after three hours; making people sit through filler is just asking for apathetic fans.

Yea this isn’t so much about the quality of the product as it is about those marathon shows they sometimes have. I’ve been to a couple of shows where I arrived at 630, dark matches were already happening. and the last match ended around 130 am. This is way too much, even if the wrestling were good. But at that point it’s green no-name wrestlers vs local jobbers; sometimes the same jobbers from earlier in the night so who wants to see that

Roh after being bought by aew is like wwe when they used to do episodes of superstars, not a single person cares because it’s people that either aren’t the main stars of the original roster or doesn’t feel like a big deal to people.

If they made a great product that held people's attention then you don't have to ask people to stay. There are tons of examples on KZfaq of people staying way late at WWE shows just to watch Stone Cold drink beer and go back and forth with Rock. It would go on so long that WWE were asking Austin to not do it because of the overtime expense of the TV crew.

You're saying how Heyman burned himself out writing ECW, Vince had others to help, eyc, in part of this clip, Tony brags about how there's no "off season for wrestling". If he goes like this for 52 weeks a year, over 2 companies, he'll be done in the next 5 years. I would rather see AEW thrive, but they need to get TK to step aside for that to happen.

Three shows is way too many to sustain audience interest. AEW are a victim of their early success and the network’s need to fill time slots. The same thing happened with WWE and WCW when the networks pushed them to add a second show and go to three hours for RAW and Nitro. Even TNA had Reaction and Xplosion. It was too much time to fill and the products got diluted. But then it’s hard to refuse the network’s demands when they’re offering you more hours and more money.
