@@MultiKeto exactly! He is cherry picking and giving in to the idea that men shouldn’t fight for there rights because it might be unseemly as a man to whine, but what about those men who’ve gone through a divorce and lose custody of their children and desperately want to be good fathers and see their kids. They alone can’t do it. There needs to be a coalition a movement to be fair to men. A lot of resentment out there and unfortunately it will blow back towards women. It begins very early. The first unfairness done on boys by other men because a girl cried and blamed a boy for something and he gets the strap and wrongly accused.

I’m a woman, and Jordan Peterson’s lectures helped me unravel all of my issues that no other counselor could help my uncover before. He helped me understand my main issue was how I was way too agreeable which was inevitable snowballing into a host of other issues. If it weren’t for Jordan Peterson, I wouldn’t have gotten myself out of the many holes I’d dig myself in. He’s even better in person and truly cares about the people he helps. My sister and I were astounded at just how many young men were at his event just looking for a “father figure” to help them become better men. Screw all the women haters.

I watched Jordan Peterson here in Zurich, the audience was very beautiful, well-dressed people, families, a lot of girls and of course a lot of young boys all dressed in suits, ties and waistcoats, beautiful to see. And you sit and listen to someone like Jordan speaking a master English language (English is not my mother tongue but oh my how much we miss people who speak like him, not like these degenerated journalists). I was there seeing with my own eyes the representation of excellence. Pure excellence. And there is no competition for excellence.

@@goranmilosavljevic1393 I'm off today, so I'll explain a little bit about what I mean. Currently, you only need to use OBSERVATION (see the rebels with blue hair, hairy armpits and "absent father" bangs. Do you really think that one who neglects one's body so much is doing okay from the inside?). There is a book I like a lot that defends: beauty is not a purely subjective thing, but a universal need of human beings, therefore, contempt for beauty also means losing the meaning of life. For me, it connects with the girl with the blue hair, who lost (or never found) the meaning of life. Who wants to embrace some flag no matter what, wants to revolt with the world, but doesn't take care for her most intimate parts and, in theory, the easiest ones to initiate change. Appearance, relationship with parents, family, friends. As Jordan himself says: tidy your room before criticizing the world. But back to the subject of beauty: for 2,000 years humans have pursued beauty-in art, in architecture, and in shaping the human environment in general. Art used to recognize that suffering and chaos are part of human life and offered beauty as a remedy to find joy and meaning in life. Again with the observation, no modern city beats an Italian city to put it simply. There is a channel here on KZfaq called The Aesthetic City. Have a look at one of their videos called: This City Did the Impossible. I also recommend vividly for you to read this book: "Beauty" by Sir Roger Scruton, or watch the documentary with the same name. Beauty inspires. And an inspired person inspires other people, positively influences their social cycle and move the needle towards a better society.

I'm going to look for "The Aesthetic City", and I've heard of Sir Scruton so I'm going to watch and listen.....thank you for the suggestions. I have often thought very much about why beauty matters, and it surely does matter a lot. We can even truly know that with simply walking in gorgeous places, and seeing how uplifted we feel. And that's just one of endless examples.

100% agreement. Taking popular media as just one example, albeit a rather large and influential one, men have gone from being depicted as strong, capable, competent, sources of safety and wisdom to clueless buffoons barely able to tie their own shoes without the patronizing and somewhat exasperated support of women...and sometimes children. Similarly....I've noticed "children" have gone from only partially formed human beings in the process of learning and in need of the careful and loving guidance of adults and parents......to being both more capable and smarter than adults in general and the their parents in particular. It's kids that "know what time it is" whereas parents....if they are depicted at all....are depicted as fumbling dolts that the world of children don't need and must repeatedly correct and eductate. And then we wonder why we live in upside down clown world.....

Hi Sarah, I'm interested in your saying that your husband and yourself "cut the cord...and never looked back", and exactly what that might mean. My own situation is that I cancelled my TV license (in UK you have to pay the government to watch live TV) and SKY subscription about 6 months ago, and have uninstalled FB on my phone this morning and come off a couple of social groups that were supposed to be about local issues but people kept posting political opinion, and I couldn't resist getting into pointless debate with them...I am still on YT and have Amazon Prime. Lots of it is useful, but I am still feeling pretty plugged in. Okay, sorry for the preamble! My question is what do you mean by "cut the cord"? How extreme did you go? I am wondering how I can both live in this culture and avoid all the infuriating BS that is going around. Thanks for your time and I hope I didn't test your patience.

Absolutely. Those are bedrock traits that anyone should aspire to. All masculine traits cannot be toxic. It has been lost in the weeds that all of the traits framed as toxic can be fostered in a healthy way. There are desirable traits for both men and women. Perhaps you should re-examine that quote because it allows the smuggling in of material untruths. It is one thing to say that one can be informed by such "truths" while accepting that they are not materially true, but Peterson actually makes the argument that metaphorical truth is superior to material truth. His claim is that when material and metaphorical truths clash, the metaphorical truth IS more true. He has no basis for this other than handwaving and it allows him to make a lot of dubious claims about morality and religion. I think he performs this gymnastics knowingly.

Jordan took upon himself a quite heavy cross to carry. I'm praying for him not to break his back while doing so.

.I don't mean this in a cynical way at all, but I'm sure making millions of dollars eases that blow. And going on stage to rooms full of people who paid good money to see you speak has to really soften it as well. It would more than compensate for New York Times hit piece articles and Kathy Newman interviews.

Thank goodness I don't need JP for my own well being. I enjoy listening to him because he perfectly articulates the lessons my father taught me growing up. When he speaks my initial reaction is, "well of course". Unfortunately for many it's a new take. Fortunately, they have Jordan Peterson. I am so glad he is there for young men that either didn't have a father, a weak one or one that was unskilled in articulating the concepts of being a good man.

You put this in such an elegant way. Your harsh realities at the end really highlight something the men's rights activist groups try to address. However, they fail to ignore the natural behavior of human beings in society. Instead, we should strive to overcome, instead of asking for the world to change. It is cruel and it does not succumb to your will.
