I didn't understand it at first and discarded it as some weird act but it has been growing on me and is now in my top 10

One notion: this official video was made before national selection in Serbia. So it's kind of logical that, more recent, live performance has more meseges embeded in it.

It's confusing. This song has real winner potential, but the betting odds have her so low! The dissonance makes no sense because this is the only song I can see winning frankly (+ Italy)

It’s also worth noting that repetitive hand washing can be a symptom of mental illness (e.g. OCD, but a reminder that OCD is much more than obsessive cleanliness, and some people with OCD don’t have compulsions related to cleanliness at all, but the repetitive hand washing is a great shorthand linking physical and mental health) - it’s something I struggle with myself, so from experience, let’s hope konstrakta has some quality hand cream for rehearsals (lol I was writing this just as I got to the part where William said the hand lotion thing)

As time has past and people have more opportunity to digest the song, the performance and video - I'm genuinely thrilled that people who don't speak Serbian are able to connect with this. I hope Serbia has opened a door to more artists taking the Eurovision stage with thought provoking performances and more national broadcasters willing to take a risk with what song and performance they send to Eurovision in the future.

What I appreciate most about this song is that it asks questions to us humans (as members of society as a whole) and only suggests some strong (counter)arguments, and in doing so, it is not proscriptive but rather leaves us with the key question to think about: "And now what (do we do)?". This is for those of us willing to engage our brain for our own benefit and thus for the benefit of the society at large. Its messages are so nicely layered, allowing each one of us to take messages that resonate the most with our own circumstances. In this sense only, it is a 'popular' song! But one has to read the lyrics in order to understand and appreciate the messages. Then just let the beat get under your skin. Together - the meaning and the beat - work wonders, and the song literally grows on you in no time!

The point is not in the chicken wings, but in the fact that she and her partner suddenly have nothing to say to each other, and in those moments she only thinks of "what is the secret of healthy MM hair". Imagine sitting with someone at lunch and having nothing to say to each other - what would make your head spin. And here she presented a big problem, and that is the growing alienation of people and close people, from each other. That's how I saw it - but not you. The song has a lot of meaning, and everyone can find their own, right? Pure art .....

I think that she washes her hand as a surgeon before and after the operation. During the presentation she obviously did an operation on our minds. That is why people are so polarized about that song- some people are simply not ready for the operation, because they are so falsely sure of their perfect mental health.

I can see four parts in this song. The first one points out modern society requests: beauty standards delivered by celebrities, buying products that make one's appearance more appealing, prevention of superficial signs of illness and all that in the name of health, ironically. The first two stanzas make the first part with conclusion that the artist (human being) must be healthy. The second part celebrates autonomy of a human being and its capacity for happiness that goes beyond purchasing "health / happiness" products: autonomic nervous system cannot be controlled, bright colours of a summer day (that cannot be sold), the feeling of easiness and pleasure while walking the dog and having breeze making one sense the soft touch of clothes. The second part is concluded with thrust that everyday happiness can exist without social pressure and worries about health and appearance. There are few statements here, the verses: "It doesn't need to get any better than this"... "I put my thrust in it"... "God, give me health." God here can be seen as power of goodness and at the same time seems to stand as the opposite of society that doesn't provide health insurance for each member. The third part elaborates the pros of being an independent artist (creative human being): Monitoring (keeping track of) each member of modern society while keeping records of one's health fails in the case of an (independent) artist, at least for two reasons: rebellious artist not being able to afford health insurance and become part of global informational system and being able to think independently. Thus the artist becomes "invisible" and still "can be healthy" (as the opposite of the first part of the song where the verb "must" is used - "the artist must be healthy" - and the society expectations are presented with pressure and sense of one's weaknesses being displayed to everyone.) The fourth part in latin speaks of hidden feelings of sadness and despair that can dwell inside the healthy body. First and fourth part make one conclusion: Global society treats human needs and feelings in such a way that many people live their everyday lives with senses of deep sorrow and despair. Luckily, the second and third part make somewhat more optimistic conclusion: feelings of joy, protection and freedom are not completely taken away - they can inhabit everyday life. Presenting this deep contradiction the songs has its final in question: "And what are we going to do (about it) now?"

This is definitely something completely different and new, especially for a parade like the Eurovision Song Contest. Serbian Laurie Anderson is a surprise for Serbia as well. And just imagine all those bearers of kitsch performance, who have no way of understanding what this is all about and how it is that scantily clad, shepherdesses or mentally altered drug addicts did not win the national competition. What is a problem is that it requires a certain level of understanding of the avant-garde and different approach, not to music, but to art. On the other hand, as a favorite, you have the Ukrainian "song", which was actually determined to go to the competition, because the winner gave up for political reasons. If we are talking about the Eurovision song contest, I would not have any chances, but if we are talking about the trendy showing of sympathy for the tragedy of Ukraine, it is something completely different. Art should be healthy ... and I'm afraid washing your hands won't help it.

I still cannot get into this song. But i wish Serbia allot of luck.

You are on point on most of things, but i have to say OF COURSE she can have medical insurance in Serbia :) Lets not get the wrong idea. Thing is that if you are independent ( not working for state companies or private ones, instead you have your own business ) you pay for insurance for your self. It is also worth pointing out that it costs less than 30 EUR a month, or less than 5 EUR for one visit to a doctor... So i would not agree that Serbia is the worst when it comes to medical care. All others have it for free ( workers and children and elderly )
