JT has an awesome voice. One of the best falsettos I've ever heard.
@johnbarron22693 жыл бұрын
JT and his voice/falsetto were monumentally underrated. It is quite simple in my mind as to why: During the prime of his stint with Kool And The Gang, there were soooooo many other great groups and Lead singers. God gives JT his due.

I adore the fuck out of this song. I know it's more 80s pop than real R&B, but it's really one of those smooth ballads and is totally overlooked and forgotten these days.

I had so much fun playing JT,s girl friend. Although the first big snow in NY that winter... very cold, thank God we shot the rest inside for 16 hrs. George Brown the drummer is an excellent song writer. Although I lost one of my favorite earrings in the elevator shaft on the way up in the second scene, I forgot about it when I got to know the group. Great experience!

What's amazing about Kool N the Gang is how well they transitioned from the 70s to the 80s. They fit the sound of both decades so well.

I love Kool and the Gang. JT is one of the most underappreciated lead vocalists ever IMHO. Without JT joining the band (in the late 70's?) they don't get to the top like they did. That being said, having that many kick ass instrumentalists in one pop/r&b band in today's world is simply unfathomable. The mold is broken boys. Well done.

I agree with you I love cool and the gang ever since I was really young call and the gang needs to play some more music go cool in the gang with a K

They Did have a few hits before JT but nothing like the sound they aquaried after they got JT. They even switched produceres mid stream and it was JT's vocals as well as better managment that carried then forward. It's really sad some of the members of the band had problems with JT which led to the breakup.. you'll have to read the whole story.. he's in his 90's now and I'd LOVE to meet him shake his hand and get his autograph.. and I'm White.. Forget that other "popular" James Taylor.. JT was the Real James Taylor.

He is 70 years old. JT was and is Kool and The Gang. He gave them their fame and name. He put them on the map. They tried to take away his royalties. His solo music is great and underrated. @@DivergentDroid
@DivergentDroid7 ай бұрын
@@lapson19 I'm sure the 90 was just a typo as I had just read a bunch of stuff about his life before I wrote that. The band did continue to do well after JT joined but I'd say it was their 1973 album that gave them their first two top 10 hits and another on the top 40 chart that put them on the map. Their next album in 74 got them on Soul Train with a new single and the album after that had another top 40 hit. That's nothing to sneeze at. Most bands never get that far. In fact I'd say if the band had not had those huge successes they might never had been a position to acquire JT. JT was obviously joining a band that was already established with a string of hits. JT did not give them the name. That came from founding band member "Robert "Kool" Bell".

Girl, the first time we met, it took me by surprise Ooo girl, you walked into my life with those street corner blues You were living in the fast lane, much to my surprise, baby But I fell for you anyway, I'm addicted to your love, girl Hey, stone love, solid as a rock I'm in love with you, baby Stone love, solid as a rock Girl, our love is so unique, it's one of a kind And girl, whenever we kiss it's like a natural high But we're living in the fast lane, red lights flashing, baby Will we ever change the way we are? Stone love girl Oh, stone love, solid as a rock Stone love, solid as a rock The life we live is a challenge Always standing on the edge May not be the best way but that's all we know' Cause I don't wanna live my life alone no Oh, stone love baby I've got you, yes, I've got you Got you under my skin, yeah, yeah Stone love, solid as a rock That's the way we are, baby Stone love, together forever Solid as a rock, the woman in my arms Stone love, solid as a rock Ooo baby May not be the best way but that's all we know 'Cause I don't wanna live my life alone no La la la la la, stone love La la la, stone love, stone love
