Hey, Could you guys teach us how to order for delivery at home ? (like what applications, what to say, what to expect - do they come at your door, do they wait at the entrance of your building etc...)

Aucun Aucun this would actually be really helpful cos the last time I tried to order food online in Korea using an app I couldn't make sense of anything and just gave up lol.

Well.. Everything is in Korean after all... But if you are able to read and speak Korean it would be better to order it through a phone call or get someone who knows Korean to help you order it if you are going to stay there for quite awhile.

Hikari To Yami Gamingz I can read Korean and would say I'm at an average level of speaking and understanding it, but just that time I was ordering online, it didn't seem to want to comprehend the details I was filling out- idk maybe it was me or maybe it was the website layout but yh, it didn't work and I couldn't make sense of why... I think calling would be much better

Hey! I live in Korea, so maybe I can help? I use yogiyo (an app) and it's pretty simple even if you don't know korean! As long as you have a Korean credit card that is... if you don't then places like pizza hut let you pay with your debit card or cash when the delivery guy comes! But they usually come to your door unless you live in a locked community (like a guesthouse with a hook lock or smth) they sometimes call you a few minutes before they arrive, or not at all. If you call to order food then that's different. All you need to say is your home address and then your order and that's basically it.
@Raella94
@Raella94 7 жыл бұрын
You can download apps like Yogiyo or 배달의민족 to order delivery food (choices are limited depending on the area you stay in) but you still need to know some basic Korean to be able to use the apps. If you are just visiting Korea and are staying in a guesthouse, you can ask the front desk staff to help you. If you are staying in Korea, you should familiarize yourself with a Chinese restaurant (중국집) and 김밥천국 near your house. They sell nearly every dish you can think of and usually are the cheapest options. They'll only ask for your address the first time you order and subsequent orders are simple and straightforward since they already know your address from your phone number. Tbh if you are staying in Korea, you should know/learn enough Korean to be able to order food in order to survive there lol... Good luck ^^

It's surprisingly popular these days with younger people because back in the 70's it was never really available at restaurants because it was not a part of history that was memorable. These types of stews were made at home due to the kitchen sink type of ingredients you make it with whatever is in the frig. Because of this I personal would not order it at a restaurant. My philosophy is I like to order things that I can't regularly make at home.

On another note, as others have suggested can you do a video on ordering take out delivery? When I was there, even though I am Korean, it was confusing on what app to use as well. Great work on the other videos. Your pronunciation is very good and thought you were Korean especially the street food video.

I love budaeztige (부대찌게). Your Korean is excellent, Haeppy^^ Just one suggestion, though. When you want to call the serving lady to your attention, you can certainly say "저기요! (Jogiyo!)." Many people actually say that in Korea. The word is not inappropriate or wrong or anything. But this word is actually an awkward utterance to call someone's attention, as it's the amalgam of two words: "저기(jogi)" which means "there" and "요(yo)" which is the suffix for polite ending to a word. So my suggestion to you is to say "이모 (imo)" to the serving lady if she seems in her 30's or older. "이모 (imo)" means "sister of your mother." As you know, the Koreans like to accord family titles to one another, when they are not kins but close to each other or when they want to be close to each other. Calling a lady around your mother's age "이모(imo)" is a very polite and endearing way to express your good will to the person. Actually, you would hear many young people calling "이모(imo)!" to the serving lady in the restaurant. Even older gentlemen would call young waitresses "이모(imo)." In that case, the older gentleman is using his children or grand children as a "proxy" to address the waitress as the "이모(imo)" of his children or grandchildren. When you call the serving lady "이모," it sounds so nice to everyone that can hear in vicinity, and heartens the serving lady herself. Try that next time, and you'll see how heartened the lady is to hear you call her that.
@dontgranme
@dontgranme 5 жыл бұрын
Please no.....younger generations don't call every random waitress 이모 anymore....this is quickly becoming old-fashioned.
