The "Downperm" 다운펌 tehnique comes from Korea but i'm using a canadian made brand called DPERM. A down perm is a great alternative to trimming the sides of your hair & I will take you through a tutorial on how to do this from the comfort of your own home

instead of laying down for 25 mins each side, use saran wrap to wrap around your head and the hair will stay stuck to your head much easier

I wish I had seen this video sooner, my side hair grows really fast so I would always ask for a high fade. You have saved this man from going to the barbershop once a week.

I wish i learned about this sooner! Wow But also, how damaging is this to your hair/health? I know some hair dyes are cancerous so you shouldn't do it too often

Hi there! I've always wanted to get a perm so I'm planning to get one before my birthday next month. Though when I check the hair salons near me, I found out there are actually a number of perm types and I'm not exactly sure which one best suits me. It would be nice to get advice from you on choosing the best type of perm :D

The down perm smells like rotten egg... but the effect is instantaneous. My hair is very thick so down perm doesn't make the paper stick lol

@@uuuuuuumagnetic it would not smell on your hair based on my experiment but since I cut my hair there is very little need until I grow my hair back

Hey, thanks for the concise tutorial. One question though, when you say a generous amt @ 1:54, how much do you actually use? Using the amt @ 1:54 of the video, how many portions of that do you use for each side?

I use a pretty generous amount - enough to completely soak the hair. If i had to give an exact measurement i would probably say around 3-4 big squeezes of the product on each side. Keep me posted and let me know how it goes and if you have any other qs

@@Haymondwong926 sides are approximately 1cm long, which is quite short lol. I'm currently using dashu down perm which works well for me. My routine goes like this: haircut, 1 week ltr downperm then after 2 wks, haircut. Effectively cutting my hair once every 3wks.

For me it lasts around 4 -5 treatments. So a good 4-5 months

How can I combat the floof on the sides of my head when I have a fade? Like near the top its long ish, but still pretty short, but it sticks out. Idk if the down perm will work because of the length. Any suggestions?

I use Tresemme Micromist Level 4 Hairspray - spray it lightly over the parts that stick out then blow dry it down. It alway works.

No down perm only for straight hair manipulation. If you wanted to be wavy you're going to need another cold perm solution and neutralizer. I own a Asian based salon in Pasadena. V.i. Studios

hmm if you look up "korean salons" in your city that might be a good start. Maybe give one of them a call and see if they have a stylist that knows how to do a down perm

How does perm works scientifically? haha how does it make the hair go down?

Hmm it leiman terms - the chemical basically breaks down the structure of your hair follicle. Your hair thenbecomes more pliable and takes the shape of whatever your form it to. In the case of a down perm it takes the shape of the flat pressure you put on it and if you used curlers it would take the shape of the curler.

True but it usually gets puffy again once you go outside or it’s very humid. I wonder if this stops it from doing that because I usually put on some pomade or clay then put a hat on for 30 minutes and it goes down.

@@wasssuuuppp yeah, it's temporary but it depends on how long you have it on too. It lasts me about half the day when I wear it overnight

This product smells absolutely terrible. a hundred times worse than a rotten egg. I would rather to have my hair stick out for the rest of my life than use this product. My room is now filled with this filthy smell...

And this product will NOT wash off without shampoo. It is so oily and greasy and will not just be washed off with pure water.
