I am a Japanese subscriber who used to live in Maginhawa when I was studying in UPD as an exchange student. Of course I love this place and Rodics was also famous because it had another branch inside the UPD. I remembered those days there thanks to your video! Thank you and I'm happy you enjoyed this area!😍😍😍

Friuli Trattoria - Try their 4 cheese Pizza 3. Buen Comer - (This place is already inside the village but their food is so good). Try their Kare-Kare Burrito. 4. Shao Kao

My friend said his tapsilog once had a cockroach inside the rice. From personal experience, i waited 45 minutes for my order over there until they told me it's not available. I'm sure it used to be good. I think nowadays, they rely too much on their popularity so they don't work as hard to maintain quality and service.

Hi Jessica, the Caldereta we cook always has coconut milk. It’s not a bicolano Caldereta. That’s just how we cook it….at least in the Luzon area (Bulacan, Pampanga). To us it’s not Caldereta unless it has coconut milk 👍🏻 Love your channel. Your heart is definitely “Pinoy” ❤ Keep it up.

Hi Jessica, all viewers (will probably subscribe) and subscribers will love this Series. And when you asked why the Adobo was so white, because in our place (Bicol) its called Adobo sa Gata (Adobo using Coco Milk), of course with Chilis. Actually, the original Adobo is really white because there's no Soy Sauce in it, only Garlic, Salt and Vinegar. BTW, continue talking with the Locals in Tagalog it's the only way you can hone your Tagalog and be fluent in no time. Good luck and be safe always. Next Vlog please!!!!

Kudos to Jessica and her crew for picking small, independent businesses and promoting the local economy. Mom-and-pop shops, hole-in-the-wall restaurants, and street food vendors need all the help they can get to bounce back from the pandemic and get through hard times. So thank you for featuring them in your series. Perhaps one day you get to check out other provinces and feature their local sites, traditions, and food. Looking forward to more creative ideas and content from your team. Well done, guys.

A few months ago, an aunt of mine said the exact same thing- once you've had French pastries in a Parisian cafe or patisserie, nothing will ever come close to that experience of pure heaven. Nothing will ever come close to that high. These are some excellent recommendations for the Teachers Village area. Will definitely check them out when I find myself on that side of town. And Rodic's kaldereta sounds like a winner. I'll trust your sensibility and sophisticated palate on that. Is it your ultimate favorite Super Saiyan dish?

So happy Jessica went to Diliman area for this! Some inputs on Jessica’s observations: - RODICS - this is the go-to tapsilogan in Diliman for UP students and other diliman students. Their Tapsilog is really unique because it’s shredded and the right saltiness and spice. Army navy’s tapsilog can’t compare with Rodic’s tapsilog. Jessica mentioned that the caldereta had a Bicol vibe - maybe it’s A SIGN THAT JESSICA SHOULD GO TO BICOL. ❤️ - Provenciano - the Adobong Bicolano should have been adobo sa asin (vinegar, garlic, and salt) but they added coconut milk to make it more like bicol express; it’s also so interesting that Jessica chose Laing because it’s also a popular dish in Bicol

I think the adobo you had was an alternative creamier variant. Chicken adobo with some lime/calamansi is good too. And laing is a favorite of mine. Still waiting for my mom to cook that one. I'm happy to bring you to some delicious local restaurants. Anyways, keep being awesome! ^^

My Paboritos in Maginhawa would be: Ate Fe's for their Lechon Rice (it's right beside the 7eleven in the first shot of the video. One of the OGs even before Maginhawa became a food hub.) Buen Comer's Kare-Kare Burrito for Fil-Mex goodness (not on the main street tho, but same area) Rodic's, of course. Can't go wrong with their Tapsilog (They also have a branch inside UP near the theater) Friuli Trattoria for their pizza and pasta (Also one of the OGs and very close to our hangout back in college) All of these are really good, and very budget-friendly. 😀😀

Adobo with coconut milk is always the best version of adobo you will eat. It is what makes adobo light colored. A must include place for your series is Malabon. I think you'd need to categorize your visit there per visit per episode. An episode for desserts, episode for Pancit, episode for hole in the walls and an episode for Crispy Pata.

The tapsilog is good but I like the more tradionally-marinated ones. My go-to order in Rodic's is the baconsilog. They used to have thicker, home-made cuts back then. Its really hard to find a food place that not so will many knowthat is very good. Mostly if the resto or food store is good they will be packed because the food is really good and they dont need to advertise it. From word of mouth people will visit their places. Like Rodic's its been a popular tapsi ever since in UP area. I can attest to that its been one of the best tapsi places in PH. There are other good tapsi places, but Rodic's is really different. Since you really love eating. These series of yours will open up your palette to different resto that will certainly have your taste buds taste some of the best dishes in PH. Wait for more episodes.

My sister is from UP Diliman (I’m from UP Baguio hence the picture) But a little history/fun fact about Rodic’s is that one of their first stores opened inside of UP. It was located in the shopping center (which caught on fire a few years ago). Thanks to my sister, I’m lucky I was able to eat there and their tapsi was totally different from the modern Rodic’s restaurants now. The vibes is also very karinderia. It’s a shame that the place was burned down. Nonetheless, the modern day Rodic’s still is above most tapsi places.

This is Laloma lechonan is already established before the Cebu Lechon. They also lechon Baka. And you can see also part of the restaurant there is one area where you can see the pigs roasting on bamboo over the hot red charcoals. Maybe you can include in your episodes. Each restaurant has it own specialites.

My Bicolano side is intensifying. I think they call it "adobo sa gata" now, but as one commenter said, adobo wasn't originally with soy sauce. It's originally white. In Bicol, (where the put gata on everything, instead of soy sauce, we put gata. :) Also, that laing looks legit. I have introduced legit laing to someone who doesn't eat laing because of previous bad experience (itchy). I told her, before you order laing, ask first if a Bicolano did it because most non-bicolano cooks do not know how to handle gabi leaves. It should be well dryed so it won't itch.

Adobo sa puti don't have soy sauce, they use only vinegar and whole garlic and sugar to cut off the acidity of the vinegar,. We also have adobong tagalog,in this dish we only use anato seed extract,it's very popular in many occasions like barrio fiesta,.btw i watched lots of food vlog but MENUDO are always missing to the menu,.

THAT ADOBONG BIKOL WAS COLORED WHITE BCOZ IT WAS SAUTED WITH COCONUT MILK WHICH HERE IN BATANGAS WE CALLED IT ADOBO SA GATA IT IS MORE DELICIOUS WHEN YOU COOKED IT WITH SQUID OR ADOBONG PUSIT SA GATA.TNX NICE VLOG

that kind of adobo in Manila we call Adobo sa gata that's why it's white. actually, there are many types of cooking Adobo some are sweet and salty like the adobo you used to eat the one with bay leaves. some are with onions and peppery. but then, the One we really cook is the one that is more on garlic and no soy sauce. lots of garlic, vinegar, salt, and pepper only. Caldereta makes Creamy because of the cheese and also it is supposed to be spicy. the others don't like spicy that's why sometimes they don't put chilies in it.
