I find that a lot (not all) of the Gen Z kids born before 2005 are still very much like Millennials (at least ones that were born in the early to mid 90s). Because they too had to wait quite a bit to interact with certain bits of technology and smartphones that didn’t come out until around the mid 2000s anyway (mostly because they weren't old enough to even use them yet). They have similar "When I was a kid..." stories. That's just my experience.

Same. I’m a 2002 born and back then smartphones were still a very new thing in my country and we didn’t use them until they became very popular. I see a lot of millennials talk about how Gen z doesn’t know what telephones and landlines were but back in my childhood we only used those. It’s kinda sad how as soon as you mention you’re Gen z, people automatically assume you don’t know anything except for technology when most of us (the older Gen z) know what they’re talking about. Plus, it depends on what part of the world you grew up in. In a more developed country, people would’ve been more exposed to these new technologies as compared to those who came from lesser developed countries (me). I think the ones who’re most influenced by technology are the Gen alpha kids. They’re still young and surrounded by very advanced technology as compared to some of us Gen z.

a big part of gen z humour is making self-deprecating jokes, especially of one's own mental health issues. for a lot of people it's a sort of coping mechanism, it helps make light of it or whatever. I think the jokes have to be set up in a certain way in order to be funny 'cause ofc serious matters such as suicide shouldn't be taken lightly but if delivered well it can bring out a laugh. though it seems that it may be too dark or serious for sk??🤔 is dark humour in general not much of a thing in korea?

I would like to think it's probably more of a thing for people who are struggling to live and/or specifically enjoy dark humor. Even as a millennial in America most of the people in my age group reacted the same way and usually only those types of people enjoyed that type of humor. Of course not all of them, since even a suicidal person can be disturbed by it. ✌🏽

@@kima_95 ofc, this humour is defientely not for everyone! I, myself, am not too fond of it and can be sensitive to dark humour, but it’s very common in my country’s culture and amongst most friend groups here so maybe I’m too used to it by now? hehe 😅

@@kima_95 Yeah some jokes are horribly delivered but what yeseul took is a better example of execution of it since i actually laughed lol. But since its murica it wont be the same for many, SK is pretty conservative still, so dark humour is excluded and can even get you cancelled from it

The reason why many tiktoks had Gen Z wanting to die is because we're very depressed and unstable mentally because everyone expects literally so much from us. All this pressure and stress is the reason why suicide cases are so common between teenagers nowadays. Being a Gen Z I can totally relate :)

I called it early gen z and late gen z. I was born in 89. So i’m considered later millennial since i was born in the middle/2nd half of millennial. So i was a 90’s kid. Those born before 87 would’ve been 90’s teens.

Oh let me tell u the difference between genz and minnelials . Genz is more logistic and mostly is depressed or is facing the hard side of the world. More over they lack in processing technological advances like memes and stuff . It's not like we rnt aware of trends but it takes time to adjust. Also we love jokes which has a dark humor to its like" it's funny that he died due to his own debts" might sound funny to us at certain situations . Meanwhile minnelials are more like a lively and tech generation who r well versed with this short forms like lmao and stuff . They tend to mostly love themselves and probably ignore the problems and try to face it cheerfully. Unlike genz they love comedic side of humors which are understandable and are actually funny without any dark side. I'm an genz so the videos shown were all kinda relatable to me I could relate to some while laugh to the others . Btw thank you so much for this video my whole family loves watching it and is too excited whenever a new video comes . And btw taekwang oppa even I use :) and :( most often .

Ehhh not really. The big difference is just how we grew up. Millennials are worse with “dark humor”. There’s barely much a difference, they just try to push there’s a giant difference

Actually, Gen Z tend to use the sparkle emoji to show something that's like boujee or 🌈. The laughing emoji is actually like 😭💀. We're kinda weird for that I guess... But I love you channel you guys!

I'm Gen Z and I don't know anyone doing the phone signal with a flat hand. Even my little brother, which is Gen Alpha and nearly ten years younger then me doesn't do it. Having a single mother also gave me the joy of still experiencing analog technologies rather then digital when I was younger. Does that make me an unicorn of society?
