When britishers came it was hindustan. India and bharat both name is recognise in our constitution, the name india was derived from sanskirt word sindhu which means indus river, the name india was not given by britishers but yeah they started to use this name and downside hindustan. Greek were the one who had a hard time pronouncing indus that's when it changed to indiè and later india. I don't like now people are having problem with the name india, we should respect all names because all those represent different eras of india. To be very honest in this modern era I like india more.

India is named after Indus not specifically by brits, there's a whole history about the name India that how it evolved in past centuries to present India. We are very proud Bhartiya but also proud Indians, I love both of my country names and use them. And Bharat and India both is already been used in the Indian constitution/Bhartiya Samividhan. It's just now our government is using it more which is good and as a citizens we should give equal priority to both names
