Is it because it sounded like 시림문 탁겠습니다? lol My friend who never studied Korean thought that's what they were saying, so she created a song that went like Syrup Moon Takgesseumnida instead of 출입문 닫겠습니다

I am not sure if it's linguistic competency, but I lived in Korea for a year without knowing the literal meaning of those announcements. But over time, I've learned to pick out words and phrases I know and guess what they're saying. Today is the first time I learned the answers. Surprisingly, my guesses were actually not that far off! I wonder if I had just gotten used to hearing Korean enough to infer the meanings.

Oh... Now I miss the subway in Korea. Is that weird? haha Some tips I'd give for taking the subway there: - Don't forget to pass the t-money (the card) or your cellphone (app) at the exit too! Otherwise you'll pay the full ride. - In my country, the directions are named by the last station of the line, but in Korea, they name them after the next station or main station (not the last). That can be confusing sometimes. Just make sure to know the stations in between. That helps. - From the warnings, I think you should just pay attention to the right or left announcement. I can't quite remember if they're translated in English as well. - Some very specific stations have two lines running at the same time at the same boarding. They change by some minutes between them. So take care not to get aboard the wrong car lol - I like the app "kakao metro" for planning my trips. It's just very cute and functional. I miss the subway song so much TT Same for the beeping of locking/ unlocking doors... It's so addicting lol
