The original tagalog is gender neutral. The word for he/she or him/her is the same. But because the girl allegedly found someone else, the english translation was changed to fit the context. Also the last line of "pinapaubaya ko na sa kanya"" kanya could mean him/her (the other person) or God (since it was capitalized). It could mean both things all at once and that is the beauty of the lyrics and Tagalog as a language.
