He stepped in to help Ray last minute and pulled it off. That is one GREAT drum tech. Plus he is the guy who had to set up the kit and tear it down after. That is a long day.

Smart man - don't look at the audience until you are relaxed. And note to any wanna be drum techs - learn the catalog. Countless gigs are gotten that way.

Very good lesson. It's not about who can play the parts, it's about who can compose original music and who is tolerable on tour. The internet is full of drummers who can play the parts, but someone who fits into the band, can repeat a gig a million times and bring the groove night after night? Very few. Now if we got someone to fill in for Danny Carey for a night to shut up the fanboys.

Most touring drummers and guitar players that are big enough to have a drum tech will choose someone that knows there kit and how to set it up but also will choose a accomplished player that can fill in for them in situations like getting sick or emergency so the show can still go on

@Brianbartaband3 жыл бұрын
While I do agree that Abel is a great drummer (you can find more stuff on him online) if you watch closely, you can tell he is "drumming" to a pre-recorded drum track for the songs. The drum fill at around 4.06 shows this. There are some ghost notes on the snare drum and Abel doesn't hit the snare drum at all in the clip.
@haserpl23672 жыл бұрын
Well, he isn't used to playing with the band the way Ray is, so it's kind of obvious he would use a prerecorded drum track, same with the other band members, they were probably doing the same thing.
