Not sure why Metroid isn’t as popular in Japan. The Hololive girls seem to love playing the games
@lpfan449113 күн бұрын
It's a style question, just like how the XBox, Sonic and darker, slightly "edgy" ganes like Jack 2 never did well in the country. Always found it odd it’s always struggled in Japan despite the series originating from there. Then the one time they tried hard to more heavily cater to a Japanese audience with Other M they didn’t really please anyone. I legit wonder if that’s why now Nintendo just has Western studios handle development of the games while Japanese producers oversee (with the “mainline” entries now in the care of Spanish studio MercurySteam with series co-creator Yoshio Sakamoto as producer, and the Prime series being made by the American studio Retro with the producer role being Kensuke Tanabe).

@@Slain087 Thanks. I haven't played the remake, but I remember that the original trilogy didn't have any spoken dialogue at all until the third game. It seems strange they would add English voices for other regions, though. I don't think it would really benefit them at all, would it?

@@01100101011100100111 I believe it was also there for the EU release, including the UK. There was a lot of VO that was meant to be in the original US release that got cut for various reasons, some of which was reincorporated in later versions.
@DeskoDev24 күн бұрын
@@01100101011100100111 Worth mentioning too is that Prime Remastered's the only version that lets you toggle the added voice acting. The North American Wii release, which otherwise brought over the changes from the later GameCube releases, had almost all of the added voice lines forced off, and vice versa for other regions. Remastered's defaults mostly line up with how each region of the Wii version handled it. I'm not the biggest fan of the intro and ending narration, but I tend to stick with Full for the added Power Suit voice lines.
